>>>>The consultant creeping out Republican county clerks in Colorado is one Jeff Small, who has served as chief of staff to Rep. Lauren Boebert but has not attended any musicals with her, as far as we know.

Only because he's small.

As an object lesson in the dangers of redistricting when your districts are already gerrymandered to the hilt, Republicans might want to recall a harsh lesson Republicans learned in California.

They were very, very unhappy with Democratic supermajorities in the Legislature during the oughts, allegedly the result of Democratic gerrymandering, and pushed forward a nonpartisan redistricting commission via the initiative process. Voters were like "that's a good idea, actually" and passed it. Republicans were ecstatic. They could get rid of that supermajority!

They wound up LOSING four seats. You can only cut the baloney so thin.

"we honestly can’t remember whether this is the first time a US president has so openly called for states to gerrymander district maps for partisan advantage" Benjamin Harrison, who lost the popular vote but narrowly won the electoral college, gerrymandered the whole country, creating the low-population states of Idaho and Wyoming, and dividing Dakota (which was scarcely populous enough to make even one state) into two, all for the explicit purpose of giving the Republicans more Senators and electoral votes. It didn't quite work for him (he lost the Presidency back to Grover Cleveland in the rematch) but we still deal with the consequences.

TFG has a bad habit of using the word "nasty" when it comes to being interviewed by a woman when that person doesn't ask a question he likes. He either says they are a 'nasty person' or that was a 'nasty question'.

just once.... I would love for a reporter to respond to him, "oh yeah? well FUCK YOU!!!" and end the interview.

Contemplating that picture up above of Dumptruck it occurs to me that some people are ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside; others are beautiful on the outside but ugly on the inside; but Donnie boy is ugly both inside and out. And I mean really, really ugly. World-class ugly. Vomit-inducing ugly. The ugliest in the history of the world.

Ler's make a deal: you disenfranchise voters for "mental incompetence" and WE get to disqualify YOUR candidates for same. Fair? Seems fair to me.

We're in a place where it's still 50/50 whether the Cheeto will get away with unilaterally rewriting the United States Constitution. How could anyone expect the 2026 elections to be free and fair? He doesn't have to deploy the National Guard at polling places, he can just issue a bunch of illegal EOs that plenty of people will obey, and the next Congress will be seated while the lawsuits play out.

The DNC should be spending a lot of time wargaming the election 2026 so they can get ahead of it. Instead they're arguing among themselves about how far to the right they need to move to win, like it's 1992 again. They are incompetent at electoral politics, and here we are.

Yeah so we checked and re-re-re-re-checked all the 2020 election votes and it turns out you really did win precednent hamburdurr! Congrats, felon.

Unfortunately that means you are now illegally precednenting a third term and will be removed and jailed for life permanently. Congrats, felon.

Thanks for keeping our attention focused on this matter, asswipe.

If you'll permit me a moment of sneering elitist hostility and despair, none of this redistricting/gerrymandering horseshit would matter if so many of our treasured fellow citizens weren't ignorant, gullible, racist, sexist, brainwashed 'Christian' fucknobs.

Okay, sorry, tantrum over. Serenity returns.*

*Not really, but ok.

The corruption is top down in the GOP. City, county, state, I think you can still find GOP officials who are paleoconservative and not entirely hostile to the notion of representative democracy. Obviously that is no longer the case on the national level.

If I said what I really felt about the Suprme Court's enabling of this blatant fuckery by neutering political gerrymander challenges, making clear they will buy any line of bull that a change is a political rather than racial gerrymander and giving Trump carte blanche to act illegally as long as it is "core executive action" - which Turmp and his handpicked useful isioy lawyers argue is any of his many bodily functions - I woild be duly banhmmered.
