I'm sorry, cupcake... bullshit belongs in the paddock. Not here.

Well, I guess Trump watched "The Secret Diaries of Desmond Pfieffer" and its eight episodes before it got pulled off the air for stupidity, racism, and generally being tasteless.

It was a satire of the Clinton Administration, but they couldn't do Clinton, so they put Dann Florek in a Lincoln beard and made it about him. He took the money and ran back to "Law and Order: SVU."

Oh, but he'll try, and the violence he and his supporters will/have unleashed will be just as violent as the OG fascists.

Even gritting my teeth and bending myself like a pretzel in order to be fair, and conceding that Trump seems to have meant that he's worse treated by the press and media than Lincoln ever was, I say that the following cannot be disputed on rational grounds:Trump was whining like a baby about the unfair way the media treat him, in the middle of a pandemic that has killed tens of thousands of Americans, but which would have killed far fewer if he hadn't mismanaged the response so badly. Says something about his sense of what's important. He was whining like a baby about the unfair way the media treat him, at the Lincoln memorial, which commemorates a president who placed his presidential responsibilities above his ego and above the hellish personal stresses of guiding his country through a fucking civil war with the survival of the Union at stake.Trump always does whine like a baby when his thin-skinned infantile ego is hurt.Trump has his everlasting astonishing gall to imply any sort of comparison on any grounds between himself and Abraham Lincoln. But this isn't the first time he's done it.There is vastly greater reason and better cause for the media to metaphorically flay and gut Trump on a daily basis than there has been to execrate and condemn any other U.S. president of the 45 so far. And no, I haven't forgotten Nixon. Okay, except George Walker Bush, maybe, the man who gave you the Iraq War under false pretenses. His having the gentlemanly demeanour that Trump lacks doesn't mitigate that. He was ably assisted by Rumsfeld, Cheney and Rice. But Bush aside, what president can be called worse than DJT?

Allyson Chiu's article on this topic at the Washington Post is weirdly determined to find ways to say, Why, yes, come to think of it, in his own way Donald is just like Lincoln. Here's Newt Gingrich plus a real live Lincoln scholar to say so.

The article includes this spontaneous, from-the-heart, comment from some random audience member who just happened to be there at the Lincoln Memorial, along with the nice folks from Fox: “Please hold on to your wonderful attributes that make you our great leader and let go other characteristics that do not serve you.”

Is this kind of reporting the price of that fat new federal contract Jeff Bezos was just awarded?

You'd think a man whose net worth was just a hair under $149 billion dollars wouldn't do that kind of thing ($149 bil generates him a nice tidy income, something in the zone of $150,000 per minute, without Bezos even having to stand up and walk across the room to earn it), but then, people like us don't understand the rich and their deeply held religious belief that there is no such thing as too much money.

And you'd think a man who was placed in the White House by a consortium of billionaires in tech and Big Oil, having first served as a low rent Manhattan celebrity and then doing a turn on reality TV, would have at least enough vestigial modesty not to dishonor a martyred president in this particular way. But then, people like us don't understand people like Donald, either.

Anyhow, comparisons to Lincoln have the flavor of a wormy apple, coming as they do from the Party of John Wilkes Booth.

"An unshapely man." There really is a basis for comparing Lincoln and Trump, then. Nyuck, nyuck.

Didn't Lincoln say, "You can fool some of the people all of the time"? The central tenet of Trumpism.

In terms of “treatment based on what you deserve”, Trump has been treated better by the press than any leader in human history.

Well, he is bigger than Jesus. So was Taft.

So are a lot of modern Americans. We're pretty damn fat these days.

Oh, sorry, did I dare imply that Dear Leader isn't "big-boned", but in fact, OBESE?

Woopsie-doodle.
