Did you leave the house this weekend for funtimes and splodey things? Did you not turn on your infernal computing machine even once, except for pr0n? Did you manage to wake up this morning without having heard about Mister Donald J. Trump Esq., MD, Ed.D, and how he is definitely not racist this time, just because his former caddie and current social media maven
I heard him from another room, so first wasn't sure who was sputtering, backtracking, whining, and stammering. Went to the TV to find it looked as bad as it sounded, especially when he was asked if he would step forward as the nominee, 'cause he knows that ain't gonna happen, and it's KILLING him.
You remind me of an excellent editorial that was in the national newspapers the day after Carter was elected. It was about how wonderful it is to live in a country where the government can change parties after a single election, but the citizens accept it calmly, there are no violent protests and dead people in the streets, no burning buildings and overturned cars, as there often are in less "civilized" countries following a controversial election. That was 40 years ago, and it was true then. I wonder if it is still true. I THINK so. . . I was expecting a stronger reaction when Obama was elected, and it didn't happen. I saved that article for years, but can't find it now. This would be a good time to reprint it and remind people how things are supposed to work in a free and democratic constitutional republic.
Can you imagine the shitstorm if a Democrat said that Sheriff's badges represent corruption? I mean, here I thought that Sheriffs were the only people standing up for The Constitution against the Government...
Yea, that business about trying to find the nicest possible explanation for assholery like a bunch of talmudic scholars? We need to cut that the fuck out.
Here's the thing.... if you look up Sheriff's badge in, say, google image search, you get something like this:https://cdn2.iconfinder.com...See how it has the little circly things on the tips of the star? THAT is a sheriff's badge. What's in that Trump image is a straight up star of David. Mic Drop.
I have been considering contacting the Des Moines Register to ask them to search their archives and send me a copy. It should be easy to find - it was printed the day after the election - Nov. 3, 1976.
America is in trouble because for 30 years certain conservative forces have been encouraging what I can only call a 21st century version of Tribalism. Many people are identifying more with their particular racial/religious/ethnic/regional/gender/economic group, and some of these people view every other group as subhuman in some way, and this justifies discrimination and/or violence against them. We were moving slowly away from Tribalism in the 70's, but then Reagan was elected.
MISSED YOU TOO
Heil believe it when I see it.

This was a real test of Poe's law. I had to go through your comment history to determine where this fell. Well done.
This is right up there with the Onion no longer being trenchant commentary or satire, but rather a frightening crystal ball.
They go to pawn shops.

HAHAHAHAHAHA
But not everyone will get it.
Not to me, thankfully!

Good question. Where I live it is considered a step up from Wal-Mart, so perhaps the rednecks think it is a snobby store?
