Meanwhile, they torn down the East Wing to build a tacky ass ballroom for the bloodless elites and added a $1 trillion to the debt in the last year — the fastest accumulation on record outside the pandemic: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/u-s-hits-38-trillion-in-debt-after-the-fastest-accumulation-of-1-trillion-outside-of-the-pandemic

One party has policy, one party has cruelty. That the cruelty will be inflicted on supporters of the cruel party is a silver lining, I guess, because fuck em'.

Keep in mind that this is part of an overall strategy by the GOP to force grassroots liberals to donate to food banks and support friends and neighbors, rather than using time and money to support midterm candidates or organizations fighting the regime in court and other venues.

If the tiny-handed tyrant can find a way to slip the contingency SNAP funds into his pocket, he will.

Just because their tactics to blame Dems haven't worked fully up to this point doesn't mean they won't. Dems and every other responsible person out there should be using a headline like yours. They "choose not to" fund SNAP during this shutdown.

He ain't doing shit but whatever the neo-nazis of P-2025 want him to do, and rethugs have been trying to fuck over the less fortunate, you know the lazy-ass "welfare queens" who just want free stuff, for half a century. Not that any Democratic "leaders" have noticed.

Ta, Robyn. I get some satisfaction from my job, assisting HIV positive adults in a federally qualified health center (FQHC) in The Bronx. I have never liked the commute (although during COVID lockdowns there were so few people on the train that it was tolerable, and the passengers were masked), but the locals in SoBro never bothered me. I am dreading how desperate many will become when they no longer have money for food because SNAP isn't funded.

I had SNAP for a few years while I was job hunting. I made it work by cooking everything from scratch and buying beans and grains in bulk, and having very, very few treats. When my benefits (cash assistance and SNAP) were unjustly cut off, I dropped 15 pounds (6.8 kg), and applied for emergency help, which I got that same day.

Starving families to score political points isn’t fiscal conservatism. It’s cruelty dressed up as strategy. They could fund SNAP today if they wanted to. The suffering is the point.

Fucking Republicans know undocumented people can’t get Medicaid, and I’m damn sure they also

Know that even if the subsidies aren’t extended, undocumented people, like everyone else, are still covered by EMTLA for critical emergency care.
