He spends all his dwindling time trying to make his fantasies match reality, which is why he had to pardon the 1500 J6ers. If he must continue to insist the 2020 election was hinky, then he needs to validate the pretense for the J6 riot at the Capitol. Those people weren’t deranged, misled extremists breaking into the U.S. Capitol to attack Congress all because of The Big Lie, they were patriots justifiably seeking reconsideration of a cruel injustice against humanity.
This is similar. Trump and Republicans love to both-sides everything, and make absurd false equivalencies. So Trump must find someone, anyone, with a law license willing to do whatever he says to validate these reprisals for the many injustices done to him. Plus, he’s just an angry, hopelessly vindictive and miserable person who wants to see other people hurt.
