I keep getting more and more convinced that this is what really comes of electing someone with no prior experience in office. Career politicians who lose an election prepare for the next one. They don't try to overturn the whole system for someone who will have to be replaced sooner rather than later anyway. The unresolved puzzle is why someone with a history of risky and often failed business ventures can't or won't make the same adjustment to defeat.
