If the far right gets its entire wish list - no trans, no gay, no lesbian, no women on front lines or no women at all, and no noncitizens - then the readiness of the US military will tank. None of the articles I've read, including this one, talk about what a difficult time the military is having attracting recruits in the midst of one of the longest labor shortages in modern times.
Service members will tell you over and over again, they don't care if the person in the foxhole with them is gay, a woman, black, muslim, atheist, trans, latino, --- none of that matters so long as the soldier has their back. And they know first hand NONE of those characteristics precludes someone from having their back.
