BOYCOTT THE GOP

"Republican members of Congress could stop Trump at any time. In the case of tariffs, they could simply reassert their constitutional power to manage tariffs. If they choose not to and the economy doesn’t recover and thrive as Trump keeps promising, voters can be expected to hold them, as well as him, to account."

Trump doesn't seem to understand that politicians are Public Servants, not absolute rulers. His little decrees aren't Laws.

Trump and Stinky are power drunk, they think the world has to bow to their Will and kiss their feet.

I understand a lot of the MAGA cultists are struggling and they think Trump can change their fortunes.

Maybe they will learn when Trump plunges the country into a Depression and they are living in a homeless camp and are denied their ability to vote because they can't get an ID because they can't prove they are a legal resident of their state and there are no social services to help them get back on their feet. Their fortunes certainly will change, for the worst.

I just renewed my passport online last month and it arrived in less than two weeks, which was hella surprising, because every other time, it took a LOT longer. And with all the cuts and shit, I seriously wonder how it happened. But I'm at least glad I have it in case I need it. Which is seeming pretty likely. I just wonder what countries would accept my daughter and me as refugees. D;

Or you could go for national electoral body that operates distinct from all and any political groups - like happens in the civilised world.

No one questions in Australia how well the voting papers for our Senate elections are entered into a data base to ease the count (we dont simply give the spot to the person with the highest number of votes) - but we do have the paper ballots and keep them. We track every one issued and know where they all are.

Our electoral commission wants people on the rolls, since it notionally a legal requirement to be enrolled.

If you fly anywhere you have to have REAL ID. In the state of Texas you have to have real ID drivers license or ID card. You have to have birth certificate or current passport. I guess the rest of the nation is lagging behind if only 57% have one. When I got my last DL it was upgraded to real ID

I think they want all of us to apply for passports, so they have even MORE of our private information they can use to keep track of us... as if they haven't stolen enough. 😡

i'm really nervous about how this will impact swing states (i live in pennsylvania). blue states are going to resist this, red states are welcoming these changes, which leaves purple states in a fragmented situation. i briefly did voter registration in the red counties in the Pittsburgh metro area, and i know it was difficult for our organization to get people registered in some counties because the clerks gave bs reasons, such as saying that homeless people without a mailing address can't vote (they can, and there's a section on the registration form to accommodate that exact situation). now those clerks (in red counties) have something to point to, which scares me.

Only some post offices even do passports. The nearest one to me is more than an hour’s drive away.

I don't know what information the REAL ID stores, but if it includes race you might want to remember that during the holocaust a lot more Jews died in countries where the government had registered their race than in countries that didn't register that.

A lot of brave resistance fighters died in the attempts to burn down government record offices to get those records of race destroyed.

Ok cool you’ll see him in court but, once he’s found guilty, what are they are going to do exactly? Give him zero consequences like always? Hope not!

"Passports also cost money, about $165, plus the cost of a photo. So, a poll tax. And getting a passport takes time: You must appear in person, during the time most people with jobs are at work, and then to get one takes up to six weeks unless you want to pay for a rush job."

`

Also, if your married name does not match your birth name, you need to get originals -- not copies -- of both your birth certificate AND your marriage certificate from your Department of Vital Records. I cannot vouch for every state in the union; however, I will say that New Jersey found this very confusing, and that part ALONE -- just getting the documents -- took about 8 weeks.
