Ranked choice voting for both state and general elections is how it goes in Maine now so that shouldn't happen again. My GF was from Maine (former Republican and lives in NH where I am) and she can't stand Collins for the reasons Stephen wrote. There are quite a few conservatives in both these states and that is OK. Most are not Christian fundamentalists. My hope is that there are enough of them that are true to their ideology and not slaves to the cult of the current Republican party. In 2016 I had a nice gentleman in a Vietnam veteran baseball cap come up my driveway in his pickup with a Kasich sticker on it. He was a lifelong Republican but he promised himself that if Trump got the nomination that he would campaign for Hillary and he did. May it be that there are enough like him who have deep regret about their Trump vote and are displeased with disingenuous types like Collins etc. to do something about it.

I gotta say, I worked my ASS off to get Doug Jones elected because I was so repulsed by his opponent, Roy Moore. But then he goes to DC and what's the FIRST thing he does? Votes Yea on the Dodd-Frank rollback! Just like Roy Moore would have done. Man, I am so disgusted with him. He has also come out (naturally) against impeaching Trump. Jesus---what is the point of spending money, hours, blood sweat and tears to put a Democrat in there if he's going to turn around and vote with the Republicans anyway?
