JFC. Who is going to stop the insanity spewing from the tRump White House ?

Pixeloid's avatar

Can’t they crash some old satellite that’s no longer used and just tell the Fanta Führer it was the OCO? They can use it again after the regime is gone, or just transfer control to a less insane/stupid country.

BTW, Substack (not just Wonkette) seems to have a problem now where I can’t post comments from a computer with any browser. At least the phone app is working.

Marcus Damicus's avatar

I had a Disqus problem last week where I couldn't post from a phone but could from a desktop/laptop.

Dina's avatar

Omg, I would die if I wasn't able to comment from my computer! (I HATE typing on a phone and my eyes are so shit now that I really hate doing ANYTHING on my phone.)

Pixeloid's avatar

Yeah, I can't stand typing on a phone, either. OK for reading, but not for interaction. It's a bit like trying to drive a car using a donut as the steering wheel.

Touch screens in general are awful for typing. A tablet will have nearly a full size keyboard on the screen, but it's horrible to try to type with it.

Can someone stop Trump from making me sad all the time? I don't like it.

Trump may think (which is asking a lot... I doubt he thinks) that the "free market" will pick up the OCO project .. like Musk or somebody, but wouldn't be surprised to see the Europeans, the Russians, the Chinese, the Indians... heck, the Brazilians.. to pick up the project. Better still, I expect all the other counties with space agencies to start poaching NASA's people.

Pere Ubu's avatar

And we won't be able to use data from other countries because it's not proper AMERICAN data and is therefore tainted and biased.

Mexfiles's avatar

At least then Trump can't fire whoever put the data together. "Always look on the bright side,"

To be fair I threw out my bathroom scale when it lied about me putting on weight.

NPR says, “It is unclear why the Trump administration seeks to end the missions”

Were they asleep in 2020 when TFG said, "If We Stop Testing, We'd Have Fewer Cases"?

Fifth Dentist's avatar

You'd think that NPR could take off the gloves now and shiv the bothsiderism bullshit they have had to do in the past.

Just every time they mention PAB, preface the word "president" with "34-time convicted felon and alleged child molester."

"M"'s avatar

Some of NPR's "corporate contributions" are fossil fuel companies

Please forgive - I thought we'd had this discussion already

This is all very sad. President TACO want to slash NASA's budget in half, targeting mostly their scientific missions while leaving the big drains, like the SLS rocket and Orion alone. NASA doesn't have a big budget and cutting it in half only destroys the serious work scientists are doing, Meanwhile billions (with a B) are being wasted on disappearing harmless immigrants, harassing universities and coating the White House in gold. The Vandals are in the house.

Pere Ubu's avatar

Give the $45 billion for ICE to NASA instead so they can build a giant catapult so we can relocate MAGA to the lunar surface.

No space suits. Oxygen is for losers!

I just can't. Every day is somehow worse than the last.

I wonder if the Democrats could institute a legal action to charge Vought, Duffy, and Trump personally for the cost of the satellites and instruments, and destruction of government property and get a lien slapped on them to freeze, and then sieze, their personal assets to pay the damages.

It's what Texas Rethugs would do. There are plenty of rational, law-abiding, progressive judges out there.

Step up and bring an Uzi to this knife-fight, Democrats!!!

I'm more for nukes, but that's cuz I'm grrrr mad.

NASA should take a page from the TRADE NEGOTIATIONS playbook and just tell the Mad King that they burned it up over Russia just to freak them out while actually leaving it parked in orbit until sanity and justice return to the US. Then we can go back to science as God intended.

After all, it didn't take long for the rest of the world to tell that moron how much they really appreciated the opportunity to pinky-swear that they were going to invest all the billion$ in his bullshit ideas and buy all the things and here's a piece of paper that outlines the concept of the plan and you can go now your magnificence...

Leave it alone and lie about it. Dummy up a spectacular special effects explosion. Do it at 8 o'clock Friday evening so Trump can show it to everyone in the Merde o' Lardass. dining room. Then quietly keep sending the data to the folks that need it.

We have but to look at Planned Parenthood to see how much Republicans care about secondary damage.
