So the guy who claims that "shithole countries" are releasing prisoners to, among other lies, vote in US elections, is releasing prisoners to vote in US elections.

Seems on brand for a convicted felon with a history of benefiting from vote fuckery.

Public corruption is a minor issue but hurling a hoagie is such a serious offense they had to shop around to multiple grand juries to try to get a felony indictment?

... and still failed.

And then failed again to get even a misdemeanour slap-on-the-wrist fine. They are REALLY not good at this whole "law and order" thing.

OT. But doesn't this benefit the Republican narrative?

I'm worried the Republicans are going to exploit this. And I think the Dems argument isn't going to play well.

Ask yourself what is whichever Donald Trump surrogate going to do with that money? Fund just ICE instead of the whole government? Buy everyone in the admin gold plated jet skis to parade the potomac? Who the fuck knows.

Expand full comment
fair_n_hite_451's avatar

It does not. The Dem narrative is "why should some people get a passing on the suffering inflicted by the GOP, we're all in this together".

Granted, Schumer is a shmutz and will likely fuck up delivering that message. And the media will do everything it can to portray the GOP as the rational party here ... but this is still the same message as it has always been. "Protect the people from losing their healthcare, or get fucked"

What is it in the GOP "mind" that is so phobic about healthcare?

Expand full comment
fair_n_hite_451's avatar

Two things:

Life is a zero sum game to them, so if someone, somewhere is getting healthcare, then they feel like they are losing something.

And second, they live in the constant fear (induced by the lies of the RW mediasphere) that someone that they hate is getting something "free" that they didn't deserve.

... and they'd rather die alone in a ditch than let either of those two things happen.

Damn it! I'm going to rob a bank, proclaim my love for the orange menace and walk scot free. Now I will only need to fashion a gun from a loaf of bread or something since I refuse to own a firearm.

Use only good artisanal East Coast bread, I would recommend a loaf of Arthur Avenue semolina. That spongy west coast bread will not scare anyone.

And all the other republicans who got elected on "law and order", "get tough on crime", "no more kid gloves", "enough is enough", "no more bleeding hearts", "throw away the key", "if you can't do the time don't do the crime" slogans complained bitterly.

No wait they didn't.

Because blatant in your face corruption and injustice like this has absolutely nothing to do with fighting crime and everything to do with establishing dominance.

They fucking love it

Everyone remember, the pricktator is not elected to be a moral or a legal man; he's elected to hurt the minorities that the unreconstructed hate. This sort of action is protected under Murc's Law.

Note that when he pardons scammers and—notably—drug dealers, it also shows that his bloody-shirt waving about fentanyl and crime in general was just an excuse for blood libel against immigrants...or even domestic minorities. Remember, in a Maladministration, look for the hurters not the helpers. And the people he's pardoned, some may well go back to hurting us just like some of the pardoned January 6 traitors.
