"...the renowned soprano (who by the way is also from Rochester, New York)..."

Indiana, PA, surely. I saw her give a hometown recital there. I sat behind Renee's mom.

Surprised he hasn't changed the name. Maybe "Robert E. Lee Performing Art Center", why not. Very performative!

Look for the name to be changed to "The Trump Center"

Utterly plausible. He'd only refrain on account of thinking Bobby Jr is his friend right now. Picture the gilded bust of him in the lobby being knocked over by our grandchildren in the fifties as waves and wildfires nibble at the margins of the former capital.

I suggest that Trump hire Lancelot Link as a consultant.

Are we at peak degeneracy yet? F34 as a cultural arbiter? This makes as much sense as putting JFKjr as head of HHS ... oh wait.

Since nobody has yet come up with a direct means of putting an end to this madness, as a stopgap we should resort to ridiculing it -- loudly, continuously and viciously making fun of these clowns. J.B. Pritzker has done a little of it. We have to do a lot more, and with an intensity that makes SNL look tepid.

A work of art, Governor Pritzker.

For the record most of our presidents had no artistic leanings. The ones that did (for sure) Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, Truman…in the case of Kennedy that was largely Jackie (I was in a ballet orchestra and I used to see her in one of the boxes), the Obamas, the Roosevelts….can’t really think of any others that were truly lovers of the arts. However, the Orange Menace is the absolute lowest and most horrible example of actual hatred for the arts.

Yeah, I noticed. Odd, huh?

My guess is decent artists will stop performing and actual arts patrons/audiences will stay away in droves. Within a year the mis-en-scene will consist of bales of hay and Minnie Pearl's hat.

"Perhaps if they bothered to pick up an instrument and worked at it, they’d develop some actual self-esteem and wouldn’t need to be told they are better than various other groups of people all of the time."

Well said! That is indeed how pride works: If you have done nothing to be proud of, then all that's left is being proud of what you are.

It costs a lot to park at the Kennedy Center and it's not easily accessible by public transportation: take Metro to Foggy Bottom and then a shuttle bus. Too much work for MAGA. Non MAGA will boycott and the KC will lose a ton of money.

The DC area is mostly Democratic. A lot of people will boycott. I've had Kennedy Center season tickets to the opera, ballet, theater---never again.
