Ta, Robyn. Unfortunately, you are correct. We have to outvote them in overwhelming numbers. GOTV and VOTE. Today is the last day to register to vote in NY, and the first day of early voting. Have a plan to VOTE.

Let's face it. Trump voters admire him for doing what they would do in their dreams. Like Trump, they are lonely, frustrated, bitter, and angry. Money and violence are the only ways Trump can get near any woman. (I mean, what else is he going to do? Charm people with his conversational ability?) Loser Republicans are in the same boat, but don't have the dirty money he has, and they won't try violence -- yet.

They know. All of them. You call them on Chump liking Hitler or whatever, and what do they say?

It's all immigrant this and transgender that. They know they can't defend him, so they try to change the subject.

82.2 million women voted in 2020. If that many vote in 2024, and 43% of them support Trump, that means over 35 million women think his behavior towards women - personally and politically - is just fine. America is in a state of mass delusion right now. If we really are a cult, let's all just drink the kool-aid and let the cockroaches have the country. They couldn't do any worse than we have.

Remember Tara Reade, who accused Joe Biden of sexual assault? At the time, a liberal newspaper columnist, whom I usually respect, asserted that anyone who believed, say, Christine Blasey Ford has to believe Tara.

Hmmm. I'll maybe believe that when one of Trump's accusers follows Tara to Russia.

I got into my biggest Wonkette fight on that one, with someone who thought the two women had equal credibility, and that supporting Blasey Ford but not Tara Reade was hypocritical.

I'm still pissed.

Doesn't anyone realize that back when America was Great, being an obnoxious, racist, misogynist creep was considered a sign of success? Just guys being guys!

This is why everyone needs to just cut these MAGA people out of their lives.

That's what it's always been about. They hate women, people of color, lgbtq people, non-christians, the poor; etc. etc. etc. They want them to suffer. They think it's funny and/or "justice" for whatever imagined thing they believe those people did to them. This hasn't changed and sure, these feeling existed long before Trump, but now they're emboldened and have A Guy.

The only way to rid ourselves of this cancer is to stop tolerating it from anyone, throughout society at every level. Not by censorship and laws per se, but by society as making it unpalpable to be like this. You want to fuck around be a shitty, bigoted Trumper? Fine, but when your family stops talking to you and your job fires you, you just found out. It's not a slippery slope; millions of people every day go through life not being walking human waste.

The phrase that seems to fit what you describe is "social ostracism." Yes, to a large extent, I think that was unofficially the strategy for dealing with fringe elements, haters, and morally loathsome people. Even the Republican Party used to keep their "whack jobs" more or less on the sidelines--they weren't allowed to take center stage in the national discourse. Now, of course, the whack jobs are the raging heart of that party, and once that sort of thing happens, it's mighty hard to deal with. Facts be damned -- their political views (if we even want to dignify them with that normalizing phrase) depend entirely on their unearned feelings of outrage and put-upon-ness in just about every area of life. And yet these blubbering sorry-assed losers are the same people who tell everyone else, "eff your feelings."

How can we change their hearts and minds without expending 10 years of emotional energy on them, cajoling them with our meticulously amassed evidence and nurturingly soothing them as they scream ENEMY WITHIN PEDO GROOMER!!! in our face?

I personally remember how "evil" the Trump acolytes thought people like me - those who disagreed with everything he and they claimed to "believe" in - when I would beg them on social media and in person to, first, socially distance/mask in public/ stay home and test and isolate if sick and then, to continue to mask etc. and get vaccinated for COVID, and so very very many of them got DEATHLY ILL and DIED in droves all to prove me and a couple of centuries of medical science wrong. They sure showed me.

You know how they claim that every death of a vaccinated person was caused by the COVID vaccine? Can we claim that the death of every unvaccinated person is caused by COVID?

"Trump himself bragged about how he grabbed women by the pussy, and they still voted for him. In fact, I still maintain that he won because of, not in spite of, the Access Hollywood Tape. "

That was just locker room talk. Which, for the proven rapist and hater of our troops senile Old Man Trump apparently either consists of sexual assault or how well endowed everyone else is in the shower.

Trump voters don't care about his groping or crimes, because they don't care about Trump. Their only interest is that he is a vehicle to legalize hate against the people they hate. Sure, you have that nasty little group of freaks who go to all his rallies, but they don't mean shit cuz they don't vote. The overwhelming majority of people who will vote for Trump hate Blacks, Browns, Gays, Women, they don't like Trump. Despite conventional wisdom they are using Trump as a means to an end.

"when Trumpists claim that a sexual assault accusation against him isn’t true" - they are lying. They know it's true and they don't care or it's part of his appeal to them. Honestly, I was listening to a Trump supporter this morning talk about why he supports Trump and all I heard in my head was , "I'm a racist". Because nothing he *actually* said was grounded in reality. Trump supporters want him to be the worst version of himself but they will twist themselves into pretzels trying to come up with some other reason to vote for him.

Imagine telling your past self that in 2024, a major party candidate for president would, in the span of two days, be faced with credible sexual assault allegations and attestations from former staff that he praised Adolph Hitler. yet people would need to ask, "Are these the scandals his campaign manager was warning were coming out?"

(And the answer would be "no, these are not the scandals.")
