Terrorism. Trump is helming a terrorist regime. Goon squads? Secret prisons? These are the methods of terrorist authoritarians. And they definitely include labeling their victims "terrorists."
I'm profoundly conflicted about Tim Snyder's decision to flee to Canada. He understands this better than almost anyone, and I looked forward to seeing him at our New Haven protests. In his absence, however, we must pick up the slack and call this by its true name. Stephen Miller and Donald Trump are worse than Saddam Hussein or Osama bin Laden. They have destroyed more lives--without any religious or other principle except the acquisition of total(itarian) power.
Here's another "dangerous" guy. Some facts are not clear, but he came here 20 years ago on a tourist visa from Egypt. He's been in deportation proceedings, not clear why but seems to be maybe because he overstayed his visa. At some point he married an American citizen and she's tried to get a green card for him but it's been denied (also not clear why).
Anyway, he had work authorization, worked as a waiter in 2 different restaurants where all the customers loved him. Had to report to some kind of ICE supervision periodically. He went to report at the regular place and they said there was some mistake in some paperwork so they sent him to an ICE office an hour away and he was arrested. Been detained in NJ ever since. He's got local community support and some NJ politicians apparently were able to keep him in NJ near family as they wanted to send him to California. No criminal record. There really does seem to be some sort of arrest quota that is a part of all this shit.

-The Hungry Leopards What Eat Faces And Shit On Due Process
Why is the Due Process issue so important to these immigration cases? Because the cases are being treated by the government in the manner of criminal prosecutions with all the attendant aspects of long term incarceration and punitive treatment of the internees. As a lawyer with a bit of experience with the criminal courts (working both sides of the court room) to me these cases all have the suspicious feel of law enforcement working on the basis of “tips” from informants. Look at the cases with the most notoriety. The common denominator is students doing Palestinian rights advocacy. Students who speak out at rallies, or who publish op-ed style columns in obscure campus newspapers, or who pass out leaflets on campus. These are not cells of clandestine plotters hatching plans for violence. Outspoken, yes. Emphatic, certainly. Challenging, for sure. But not violent. Yet somehow out of the obscurity an anonymous finger gets pointed at them and suddenly they are disappeared into the shadow world of ICE detention prison camps. Clearly there is a trash can full of third hand garbage information being thrown out to support the detainers. But who are the sources? Who fingered these detainees? How did these accused detainees become the targets? It just feels to me based on experience that the accusers are being deliberately cloaked. In criminal cases we would ask for a court order requiring the disclosure of the informant so the actual accuser could be brought to court and confronted, their veracity tested. Without access to the Due Process protection that is the bedrock of our Constitutional system, we are failing these detainees and we are failing our foundational principles. We MUST be allowed the means to uncover the identities of the snitches. It’s a matter of fairness required by our Constitution.
The Trumpstopo is waging a terror/intimidation campaign against American borne citizens who are immigration attorneys by sending them official letters demanding that they leave the country immediately. And there is the case of the Texas attorney who was ‘visited’ by the Trumpstopo at his home & threatened. This is real Fascist bullshit.
Don't give them any ideas. Foreign despots will no doubt see this as a way to make some quick cash. The prick in El Salvador aka "World's Coolest Dictator" is making about 35k/each
Never in a million years did I believe that ANYONE within the borders of the USA would be fearful of being picked up by authorities and sent to lifelong confinement in a foreign concentrarion camp without any sort of "due process of law" Nor even being subjected to such a fate no matter how heinous a crime they may have been convicted of in a court, but only upon the whims of the President? The fact that this is happening just boogles my mind. What's wrong?? Has the gravity of this circumstance not yet sunk in??
WE made the USA the "Shining City on the Hill" and are now surprised that people from all over the World are trying to get in.. The response from Trump and the MAGA (formerly the GOP) Reduce the USA from the "Shining City on the Hill" to the "Shantytown Down by the River" DPRK and Iran don't seem to have an illegal immigration problem. Follow their model! Brilliant!!
Trump is making the USA the laughing stock of the developed world. So appreciated by our global adversaries, and much to the raucous and joyous praise of less than 20% of our population Has the other 80% been effectively silenced?? It would appear so.
The Rwanda resettlement idea was tried by the UK a few years ago. It met legal challenges that delayed its implementation. The current Labour government canceled the program.
“The UK and Rwanda Migration and Economic Development Partnership[a] was an immigration policy proposed by the governments of Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak whereby people whom the United Kingdom identified as illegal immigrants or asylum seekers would have been relocated to Rwanda for processing, asylum and resettlement. Those who were successful in claiming asylum would have remained in Rwanda, and they would not have been permitted to return to the United Kingdom. The UK would invest in a development fund for Rwanda and financially support migrant's relocation and accommodation costs to move to Rwanda.
The first flight for this plan received legal clearance from the High Court of Justice and was scheduled for 14 June 2022. A last-minute interim measure by the European Court of Human Rights led to the plan being halted until the conclusion of the legal action in the UK. At the end of 2022, the High Court further ruled that though the plan was lawful, the individual cases of eight asylum seekers due to be deported that year had to be reconsidered.[1] The Court of Appeal ruled on 29 June 2023 that the plan was unlawful; with an appeal to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom leading to a concurrence with the lower court on 15 November 2023.[2] The Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024 overruled the courts' judgments and declared Rwanda a safe country.“
A national registry of autistic persons? With this person in charge of that? Someone who was responsible for chemically castrating autistic people? Surely this cannot be. Nothing like this could ever be done, or could ever have been conceived of being done, right?
To all of my fellow social justice warriors from the , 60s and 70s, those of us who, marched, protested, organized, and ultinmately accomplished equal rights for all and an end to a senseless costly war, I am at a loss. We may have well stayed safe at home All the hard fought gains we made at a terrible cost, are now being easily swept away by a retired game show host/failed real estate investor. A man of very low intellect who has a disdain for education and a dislike for the educated, a man who has failed miserably at nearly everything he has ever tried and who seems to be of what can only be charitably described as a very "mean disposition" This man seems to be capabe of destroying nearly EVERYTHING, and we are powerless to stop him Sorry for any tyoois or grammar errors. i'm so fucking angry I can't type straight.
I am at at a loss to explain how the hard core of the MAGAts includes a huge component of people who grew up in the 60's and 70's. It's like I was in one time dimension and they were in another.
"Freedom is a fragile thing and it's never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people."
I oscillate between feeling hopeful, despair, and rage about the state of the country.
I’m in a hopeful mood today.
The gains of the 1960’s and 1970’s have not been lost. They are trying, but have not been able to come up with a strategy to stop women from opening bank accounts without a man’s approval, for example.
I think some of the changes have become so much a part of the fabric of society, it will be hard to unwind them.
Looking at the past 40 years or so, we see that the "War on Drugs" was an abject and dismal falure. However, the "War on Education" has been a crowning success! Sadly, the American population is now using more dope and , in general, far less educated than they ever were .

whenever courts close a door, the Trump administration...throws them out of a third story window just like Pooty Poot would do.
Dumb question, but are they planning on sending them to some gulag in Rwanda like the El Salvador one?

People didn’t stop then. We can’t stop now. Individually, we have to step away for sanity, but collectively, we cannot stop trying.
I continue to hold out hope
We have to stop this. The courts have to start imposing penalties or lCE won't stop.
