We're really fortunate to have Elon Musk to make up for the potential loss of brain power at NASA. He has created new technology that NASA has yet to achieve. To top it off he has done so with far less money than NASA has at it's disposal. Just as an aside, my fave astronomy site is Heavens-Above.com. they have continuous animation showing the location of the Tesla. It's one of the few sites I am happy to donate to. It's owned and operated by one guy. His name is Chris Peat. This is a great site. A true gift to anyone who cares about our solar system. The best place to find out when the ISS is passing over your part of the sky.
Was that the FUBAR at Wallops Island? We can witness launches from about an hour north of the site. Perched w/binoculars out of car sunroof, heard reaction go from 'ooooh!' to 'awwww!' in seconds. Took major effort to restore Launchpad.NASA was the only reason we ever enjoyed paying taxes...
