Man, voting and elections matter. Hobbs barely beat that lunatic in 22, and this surely was impossible otherwise. AZ even indicted the giggle-gang of fake electors in the same state that spent like $6 million to the Cyber Ninjas to use black lights on ballots hunting for traces of Chinese bamboo in the Great Fraudit. The result? Biden was shorted a few votes. AZ is in danger of falling way behind Texas, SD and Florida for wackiest wingnutty states. (Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and a few others are hopeless thus left off the list).
Ta, Robyn. Somewhere between 37% and 50% of all first trimester pregnancies end in spontaneous abortion, better known as miscarriage. If these assholes want to bring their god into the conversation, they should take that up with Him. He's the Abortionist in Chief.
Arizona leg needs a special committee to examine all the laws dictated by that judge while AR was still a territory. All the states need to review their territorial founded laws.
That's a start. Add universal healthcare to include addiction rehabilitation, vigorous enforcement of the anti-monopoly statutes and serious police reforms. Then you'll have a party!
And food trucks that drive through the neighborhood like ice cream trucks around dinner time so on days when I don’t feel like cooking there’s the gyro or Indian food truck I know what’s going to be on the table for dinner.
Speaking of Ceaușescu again, some people may not remember that one of the outcomes of his "no abortion, no birth control" policies was the Romanian state orphanage system- bleak, overcrowded, and with rampant abuse of children.
I knew someone who'd actually grown up in a Romanian orphanage before being adopted by a Canadian family after 1989. She was a surprisingly small person, in part because she had been malnourished in childhood. She also used to say that girls in the orphanages were trained to either be gymnasts or sex workers.
Romania's history is a long, sad story of it getting fucked over by outsiders, and in the interim periods fucking itself over. I visited as a boy in the late 90's, the poverty and desolation from Soviet rule (even in Bucharest) was pretty shocking.
This is a sort-of Nice Times, but I definitely hope it brings out the voters to overturn the 15-week ban and elect Ruben Gallego (and Biden/Harris) in November.
I don’t understand why the GQP thinks 15 weeks is a reasonable compromise. The vast majority of abortions occurring after that point - but pre-viability - are because of maternal health issues and/or fatal fetal abnormalities. It’s not like women decide to carry a fetus for 22 weeks and then say, “nah.”
The Republican idea of a woman seeking a later abortion seems to be a person who carries a pregnancy nearly to term, enduring all the incredibly not-fun bits of bearing a child (often alone), and then on a malicious whim decides to abort the child anyway, possibly while laughing maniacally.
In other words, their conception of morality isn't that much more advanced or nuanced than that of a Disney movie. An *early* Disney movie.
It used to be a bit of mildly sarcastic hyperbole when we’d say such and such a measure had dragged the opposition kicking and screaming forward into the 16th century…
… and now and then stuff like this comes up, and, you know, close enough I guess.
NONE of these so-called "compromises" are remotely rational or acceptable, but it's not as if that matters to those imposing these restrictions. This is not now and never has been all about protecting life.
This is ALL about subjugation of more than half this nation's registered voters; THAT'S what it is.
"...but it’s turned out that a lot of people who liked abortion bans in theory do not like them very much when they become reality."\
Very true. When Roe was still the law, it was easy to say "well, I oppose abortion" because you were only dealing with an abstract idea of banning it. People who were uncomfortable with the idea of abortion but never had to deal with the dirty work of "how to ban it" could rest easy, voting for Republicans. It's sort of like how a "ban trans women from ladies' bathrooms" is more popular until you get down to "ok, how are you going to enforce it--check everyone's genitals? Can you see why we don't want that???"
If there's any silver lining about these bans going into practice, it's that casual observers will start to realize that 15 weeks is pretty damn restrictive (especially when several of those weeks are spent not knowing your pregnant yet), and "wait, my late term miscarriage is now subject to police investigation as an illegal abortion?" rears its ugly head. Maybe more voters will revolt against this.
They also get confused when you posit this: a trans man, presenting as male, with a beard, is forced by your trans bathroom bill to use the ladies. How do you know he is not a man pretending to be trans to get into the ladies room?
Also, people are beginning to discover that the real hardcore anti-abortion fanatics, the kind that would protest in front of clinics (or maybe even shoot a doctor), are also terrible people in many other contexts.
So was the deputy actually shot by someone, just not by Bob Marley? Or is Bob saying "hey, only one person was killed, it was just the Sherriff, because yes he was a dick"?
I always assumed the deputy had gotten shot and the sheriff was trying to pin it on Marley. Perhaps because the sheriff is the one who shot the deputy.

Fuck yes, that's my gov!
Dobbs is about to turn America a bright shining blue.
Oh, please, oh, please, please be right.
Yet again it matters when you have Democratic administrations. Keep it up, and fight the good fight Governor Hobbs.
Arizona leg needs a special committee to examine all the laws dictated by that judge while AR was still a territory. All the states need to review their territorial founded laws.
Abortion on demand. Pot on demand. That’s the America the Left wants for us.
That's a start. Add universal healthcare to include addiction rehabilitation, vigorous enforcement of the anti-monopoly statutes and serious police reforms. Then you'll have a party!
Do you promise?
I don’t see the problem. Tho I can’t have an abortion and I don’t partake.
Taco trucks on every corner!

Shawnna Bolick, the wife of AZ Supreme Court Justice Clint Bolick who got this ball rolling in the first place.
Clint Bolick and Katheryn H King are up for re election in Nov.
Think we are going to replace them peeps are kinda honked off.
Yep.
Still not gonna save Hubby's job.

JFK that's horrible.
Yeah, never watch documentary footage of Romanian orphanages from the '80s.

Frank Luntz probably got the 15 week line from his focus group testing.

So, a troll trying to stir shit yesterday just replied to me, nearly a day later, with a 'thanks for clarifying'. That was odd

(… shooting for the late ice age now.)
Time to stop the cultural war of the coastal elitists and fight their snooty upright walking.
“If’n we was meant to walk upright the Good Lawd would’ve given us spines!”
Brachiating was good enough fer muh daddy, dagnabbit.
The Cult Of The Fetus will endlessly whine about Freddy and Frances Fetus but once the baby is born they don't give a rat's ass what happens to it.
Since women usually if their baby has major abnormalities at 20 weeks, a 15 week abortion ban is pretty horrific.

There would be no horrific except for the horrific idiots who glorify death and suffering. All in the name of their POS "god."
After reading the holey babble (both times) I concluded that the god described therein was an evil motherfucker.

I say if we can replace “school counselors” with chaplains, we can check genitals at the doors of the little girls’ rooms.
OT. Keep digging.
"Kristi Noem insists 14 month old dog she shot was ‘not a puppy’ amid continued backlash"

OK. You didn't shoot the deputy, just the sheriff.
A 14 month old dog is at about the same stage of development as a 15 year old human. So, yeah, Cricket was a "kid".
That and she did it to "protect her children", which is a fancy way to say "I couldn't be arsed to rehome it".
I get that Marley is saying the sheriff needed getting got, but the a-hole was no deputy, because of misconduct ... "it was self defense"
I like how “I also shoot goats and horses” is her defense.
"Come on people. You should have seen what I did in Bosnia during the Unpleasantness. A puppy, goat and three horses ain't nothing."
To be fair to Gov. Noem, she IS a Republican, so more shooty-shooty-bang-bang as a defense would seem to be a solid play.
