Because I'm a dork, I have to mention that Harvey Milk wasn't on the San Francisco City Council.
Since San Francisco is both a city and a county, it has a Board of Supervisors.
In fact, the mayor of San Francisco was killed by the same asswipe who killed Milk.
The president of the Board of Supervisors replaces the mayor, and Dianne Feinstein was the Pres of the BoS. That's how she first became mayor and when I first heard of her.
(I feel like I just wrote about using 'who' and 'whom,')
Well, this is annoying. I just typed in a commnent to you, and saw a typo, so I did what they said to edit it, and I did what they said and now the original comment is GONE!
What I said was that when you make a comment you cannot see the post, which you might want to refer back to. When you go back to the post, you cannot see the comments. Now, it seems there are two things you could ask the substackers about...
ADDENDUM: I now find that there have been e-mails sent to me about the likes and comments. I would much rather be able to see those here. I rarely got e-mail from Disqus about my comments.
I can now see getting scheißloads of e-mails whuhc I do not need.
Yeah, having the article close in favor of a separate commenting page is not something I'm liking, either. I'm also not sold on the whole separate chat space for photos, but I guess it can't be helped.

I am not "I'm giving you folks money." I am the non-commenter formerly known as "mailman 27." And I am ready to bail. See ya!!
Can we all agree to never mention "cancel culture" again? Pleeze???
The right is never gonna stop using it, so it's time we own it and turn it back on the actual cancellers. Make them choke on those words.
Whine harder, school board. I don't think Gavin can hear you from Realityville.
Gone! All our precious comments are gone!
Echo...echo...echo
They're coming back ... slowly. Substack has to upload 23 MILLION comments for us!
WOW! I subscribed today, My Queen!
hello my ... peon? :) very glad to have you.

IN addition I now find that I cannot see who had liked my comments. It would be nice to be able to find out again...

Peon is a little kinky, but I'll allow it for you
Seems they took the “Wonkette doesn’t allow comments” trope a bit too far.
Testing ,check 1...2...3...
Good on Gavin Newsom!
Hey wha’ happen?!
So comment work on this one? I tried to post on another and it borked.
Well, that happened quickly! Just catching up on the Friday posts, and disqus sent me way over here!
What about non comments posted earlier today? I can't reach them.
Coming back, but slowly. Substack is uploading all 23 million (not kidding) now.
Like sands through the hourglass, never to be seen again.
