Trump will have three conditions for his endorsement of any peace deal. First, that the terms meet with Putin’s approval, and shield him from any future international prosecution for war crimes. Two, that Trump be credited with the peace deal, and that the treaty be named after him and printed in gold letters. Third, that Ukraine pays Trump a hefty tribute for all the peace he’s giving them.
Imagine how serious people like Zelensky feel about being stuck in a moment in history where millions of lives are at stake, and somehow the mighty United States has a corrupt gameshow host for potus. Granted, this invasion-turned-war began in 2022, right in the middle of Joe Biden’s term. Biden and his administration were no more able to end the war and occupation of Ukraine than Trump has been. But at least we openly supported Ukraine and made it clear to Russia that we would supply them with funds and resources to end the war.
Having to fend off Putin and his maniacal ego to protect your people is dire enough without having to navigate the whims of a cruel, petty, narcissistic fool who has little interest in the suffering of other nations, or his own.

Darling Meccalopolis made our luscious fruit bowls and tea for breakfast, we dropped the kittehs off at the animal hospital, shopped for groceries, came back and had elitist avocado toast and strong coffee. Hot handsome husband took all the bags of food scraps out of the freezer and put them in the composter where they belong. I cleaned and re-seasoned our vintage waffle iron. We picked up the spayed cats, got their meds and cones of shame (which they may not need at all), and I made falafel for lunch with tomato, arugula, za'atar onion, freshly-made tahini sauce, sliced olives, and hot sauce on whole grain pita. Meccalopolis and both dogs are napping. The cats are a teeny bit out of it from the anesthesia, but are both doing well.
