This is simply stupid (Hello, Texas Legislature, that would be you).

The delaying tactics against the Civil Rights Act worked for a while because (1) quite a few Americans were still a little "unconvinced" about racial equality, and (2) it was pretty easy to see who the Others were.

In today's case, a healthy majority (maybe even in Texas) supports marriage equality, and the perpetrators of marriage equality are mostly indistinguishable from everybody else. This bullshit legislation won't last two years.

Racial inequality will, I'm afraid, outlast gender-based inequality.

LOL. I'm in Texas as a transplant retiree who likes the affordable cost of living ... NOT the terrified, Jesus-thumping assholes who run this state. I hope I live long enough to see Texas turn blue.
