My work conditions aren't as bad (currently) as yours, but I am menopausal. Google "neck fan." I'm very happy with mine [Kidee brand, bought on amazon].
I got one like that claiming to be from Canada Post. "Oh no, we can't find your [non-existent] package. 'Cordin' to our records, you better contact us with all your personal info." Yeah, right.
Opening the door of the vehicle would let the hot air in, the airco would have to work harder, then when the driver returns and opens the door again the cycle repeats. Running airco ain't free, it uses fuel (gasoline). More fuel = more cost = lower returns to investors and management. Capitalism at its finest.
I am familiar with neck fans, but unfortunately my job is too active for them to stay around my neck. I do have a quite large dual-source fan ( plug-in or battery powered ) that I use every day in the summer.
Before they place the rebar on the deck the deck(what they're walking on) has been mopped down with a oil type release that's mopped onto the plywood to keep the concrete from sticking to the deck! Some times the deck is made of tin which also gets mopped down! With nothing over head! After they've placed the rebar in place, they then go back a "tie it in place!" That means being bent over at the waist, for however long it takes! No shade for hours on end, bent over making one tie after another!
A rooftop ventilation fan would probably be a better solution. It would keep the ambient temperature in the cargo area the same as outdoor temperature with far less energy use. More gasoline also means more CO2. I still promote the transition to all electric or at least hybrids ASAP
UPS drivers are Teamsters, and they generally run a pretty tight union ship.
M-F is the sweeter gig, I guess? Dunno.
Wacka-chicka-wow... Shame on you!!
Yeah, man, those USPS mail trucks were like rolling fridges! Mailmen will prolly burn in hell... (I kid the Brown!!)
OMG!! A Union!! But..But,, that's socialisms S
Fuck the wealthy! When you have 10,000 times as much money as the people who work for you, they need to rebel! Yup, I'm a commie!!

Ta, Robyn.
UPS might have it bad, however then there's these guys, working in the sun all day long, with no shade what-so-ever!
