It was really hard to deport all the undesirables in 1930s Germany, too. They found an easier method to deal with them. And then when those camping sites got too full, they found an even more permanent solution.

“What is the issue with permitting her to stay in the community and not be subjected to ICE detention while the parties participate in rational, orderly briefing?”

What, and ruin Trump's oppression-theatre production?

I’m a naturalized citizen. Since the 1980’s. But now I check myself and think “What if I get arrested at a protest, or get pulled over? Will I end up in an ICE prison?” The odds are very small, but that’s what this is supposed to do; make people think twice about speaking up.

I'm luckily white-passing with a Germanic last name, most of my family isn't. Just make sure to have a copy of your legal documents on your person at all times. The majority of the people they are dragging off aren't carrying their papers at the time ICE decides they look darker than a paper bag and therefore must be a troo gangsta.

Today in my town a combination of Federal and local law enforcement, went into a flooring company and removed most of the undocumented workforce as well as arresting the owner. I live in NW GA, an area where both hardwood flooring and carpet manufacturing are big business, and where a lot of immigrant labor is used, and a massive crackdown here could be an economic disaster.

Ta, Dok. Gone to Soldiers by Marge Piercy will be waiting for me at the pied-à-nuage this weekend (or maybe next). I keep flashing to what happened to the Parisian Jews. None of us is safe.

in the Reddit sub r/AskTrumpSupporters they are repeatedly stating that freedom of speech and the protection of US laws applies only to US citizens. Which is a) not how any of this works and b) insane.

I wonder what’s going to happen when they finally run out of enemy war agent murdery tatted/not tatted migrants to deport.*

*Yeah, I don’t wonder. The ICE Beast UnHoman requires fresh flesh as does his overseer Agent Orangetainter. Everybody will be up for grabs. The disappearing and helicopter rides phase is coming next.

One more example of this being the stupidest timeline.

The same admin that is hacksawing the government to "balance the budget" and "eliminate waste and fraud" and "make things more efficient" (all lies) ... is also the same admin that argues for wasting a bunch of money holding people in a detention cell "just because".

... and their supporters see zero issue with all of those lies being true all at the same time.

I kinda thought that the human race would wipe itself out due to a plague ... but now I think we'll just "stupid" ourselves to death instead.

"... and their supporters see zero issue with all of those lies being true all at the same time."

That's why I keep wondering why people keep running around like strange panting animals chasing after supporters and begging them to "tell us what you think"

It's incredibly dysfunctional

I still don't understand why the judge hadn't ordered an immediate return of the detainees to the US, while whatever deliberations he's doing proceed. It might well be a question of life and death.

Nobody can sing the current U.S. national anthem (except Jimi Hendrix’ Stratocaster), and there’s long been talk of changing the national anthem to America the Beautiful as it’s singable, if not necessarily a visually accurate description of strip malls and gas stations.

However, Woody Guthrie left us a timely and timeless song that probably works better:

The sky plane caught fire over Los Gatos Canyon,

A fireball of lightning, and shook all our hills,

Who are all these friends, all scattered like dry leaves?

The radio says, "They are just deportees"

Is this the best way we can grow our big orchards?

Is this the best way we can grow our good fruit?

To fall like dry leaves to rot on my topsoil

And be called by no name except "deportees"?

—Woody Guthrie “Deportee”

So...in 1798 they were "allegedly" denying gang members the right to appeal? That "allegedly" is doing some heavy lifting. It clearly comes from the Stephen Miller school of legal interpretation and American History The Way It Should Have Been, given that "gangs"--especially Venezuelan ones "invading" the USA--did not exist in 1798, outside of big cities where our currently approved (that is, white) immigrants were arriving.

The Trump terrorist organization farms out its most blatant thuggery to "Czar" Homan and ICE. But we must remember the thuggery of ideas, another form of terrorism, illustrated by the cases of these Columbia students--who are certainly intended to serve the rest of us as a warning.
