I am lucky in that I have not been eligible for many VA bennies. I got some educational benefits (not much in the early 80s), and a few years back I got a VA home loan. I may not be eligible for more.
But I know there are plenty of men and women who are, and screw these MAGAssholes.

I was speaking to a Navy veteran friend of mine (I was Army) the other day, and I mentioned that once Trump ignores a SCOTUS order, the jig is up and there is no more Constitution. Then, 2A or not...we are as free as the MAGAts. For ANYthing.
Trump openly shows disdain for veterans. He called them “suckers,” because they served, and many died, instead of bribing a doctor to give them a note bemoaning phantom “bone spurs.” And yet veterans voted for him. Because he hugs flags, and shouts incoherent populist nonsense about America is #1, or will be once all the white people are in charge again.
Now, vets are being fired without cause. Their VA benefits are being threatened. Medicaid is being cut. And their favorite breakfast slam at Denny’s is too expensive. And yet, they will vote for a third term if they can. Because the GOP do the bidding of wealthy donors who more and more control the message. Twitter, Fox News, Facebook, podcasts. For 4 years they simply repeated every day that Joe Biden was a criminal, guilty of something, despite no evidence whatsoever. They promised the evidence was coming, and when it was revealed, would shock the world. It never came. It didn’t exist. It didn’t matter. Biden had a convincing win in 2020, a strong first 100 days of undoing Trump’s policies and passed some meaningful legislation in the COVID relief bills and infrastructure. But by 2023 the Comer bullshit was nonstop, and it was working. Biden had one brief moment of strength in early 2024, at the SOTU address. But the media blitz resumed. And despite an impressive economy that landed softly following Covid against all odds, the GOP assured voters America was suffering through another Great Depression, regardless of the truth.
Democrats need to start using misinformation to promise voters new homes, new jobs, new ponies and new lovers. All enemies will be vanquished. Champagne will flow from the kitchen sink and Social Security payments will quadruple. And start reporting that Trump and Diddy are lovers, and that Trump owned Comet Ping Pong Pizza and smuggled kids in Wayfair cabinets for Tom Hanks.
The press is finding all these people who voted for trump and have now lost their jobs. Many of them seem to have voted for trump, but thought that when trump was talking about cutting the bureaucracy, he meant someone else. They thought trump meant - immigrants, nonwhites, women, gays, trans - those OTHER people. It really hurts to find out you are one of the OTHER people. The fact is, in trump miasma, everyone not a filthy rich millionaire is an OTHER person.
Finally, in regards to veterans specifically, what on earth made veterans think trump was on their side in the first place? Over the years he repeatedly disrespected veterans and the military. Two examples: John McCain - remember when trump said, "He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured, okay?" As recently as August 2024, trump said "that the country’s top civilian honor was “much better” than its top military honor, because the service members who receive the latter are “in very bad shape” or “dead”
I have a friend who is a nurse at a VA clinic and NOT a fan of PAB and he has been forwarding the batshit emails from DODGY and the pathetic explainers from the higher ups at the VA. He's probably safe as he's front line and medical, but he says that a high proportion of the patients are MAGAts and he wonders what will happen when they find that their emergency appointments will be 6 weeks out like they were before Biden added funding and pushed hiring enough staff to get the wait times down to something approaching sanity.
Basically he's all out of fucks to give to those chuds.

As for Democrats who claim they don't know what to do. Why don't you find and talk to your constituents who have lost their jobs due to this? Find those constituents who will shortly find themselves on a 6-month waiting list for an appointment. Record your conversations. Send them to Rachel Maddow, your local news stations, or whoever is prepared to put them on the tv set. Americans understand this stuff but only if you shove it in their faces. Democrats aren't helpless, they're just being useless.
