GM was our biggest employer when I was a kid, with wages in excess of $40/hr in today's monies. This shit is unsustainable.

I'm sure that if we could capture even a fraction of the energy generated by Sam Walton spinning in his grave at what his greedy shitass kids have done to his company, it would solve the power needs of the entire continent.

Everybody hates on Wal-mart, but I never hear anyone defending the poor saps who work at gas station/convenience stores. They're paid minimum wage with no benefits, almost as a rule (you can do far better at Wal-mart). I know people who are very vocal about not shopping at Wal-mart, but they always keep that SUV topped off. Farking hypocrites.

Whenever I travel I make it a point to stop at every thrift store I spot. Not only do I often find treasures (like my $40 tux) but I like to think that that lil bit of money is at least going somewhere local.
