While this fraud trial seems like the least of his four indictments it is the one that cuts deepest to Trump's being. He always claimed to be super rich and an savvy businessman. And what this trial is proving is that he is neither.

Old Man Yells at Cloud's avatar

He would have been a savvy businessman if he had kept his head down because no one would have cared. When you are criming, don't shout, "Look at me!"

"Not very many people" actually reading Donnie's excretions, on Donnie's own fake Xitter platform, is an encouraging development.

Ta, Gary. Even more than I want to see him imprisoned, I want Trump reduced to penury. I want him to end up so dirt poor that he has to beg his supporters for food. (I'd gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamberder today.)

He'll just take his show on the road full time.

Like the Grateful Dead, if the Grateful Dead were a cheap grifting narcicist who just stood at a microphone and rambled like a demented Fidel Castro to a bunch of losers who sold their homes and other property in order to follow him from city to city. With lots of sexy times at night for the former inhabitants of the Villages.

I remember reading about that; it was a very interesting experiment. Spy magazine sent out checks for a few bucks each to a bunch of famous people to see who would cash them. For the recipients who cashed the checks, Spy mag sent them new checks for a smaller amount to see who would bother to cash them and Trump always did. Each round had smaller checks and recipients dropped out because the amounts weren't worth bothering with. In the end only two cashed the 13 cent checks (I thought it might have been $0.02); Trump and an arms dealer.

WHAT IS GOING ON??? My comment here makes no sense by itself and was a response to another comment that is now somewhere I can't find. ???

Totally remember that! Spy used to roast Dump on the regular. Graydon Carter was the editor who coined the "short-fingered vulgarian" insult hahahaha

I would say maybe the original comment was deleted, but even then yours shouldn't have become a new thread all on its own.

Very fascinating anyhow. Esp. to a person who'd never heard of that experiment. I just picture him as so ravenous for any kind of --- well it's a zero-sum game for the roly poly celebrity pig man of North America. (I hope you're ok with that!)

IT’S FUNNY, β€˜CAUSE IT’S TRUE!

5k fine. 30 days in the hole would have been better but I'm willing to wait.

Like they say…”The best things come to those who wait.” We shall see, we shall certainly see….

I would love to see his face as he's led away to serve his 30 days. And I'm sure he's be safe. A couple SS guys could even set up a card table outside his cell and play Rummy with him to keep him company during the day.

And no fucking cell phone.

Robert Eckert's avatar

He would cheat at rummy.

mzf's avatar

When I read SS guys I didn't think of Secret Service.

Granted, it's got a bit of pre-seasoned flavor, but USSS just sounds like you've developed a problem in your steam heating system.

"...metrics show that not very many people actually read it."

If a Trump post falls on the internet, and no one reads it, does it make a threat?

Fuck Ted Cruz.

Fuck Ted Cruz.

THROW THE FUCKER IN JAIL ALREADY! How many judicial orders is he going to openly defy before they finally bring the gavel down? How many stern talking tos is he going to get before the entire judicial branch realizes the threat of consequences has no effect on someone who's never experienced significant consequences in their lives?

"Trump’s smear of his clerk might have sat up on his website for an extra 17 days, metrics show that not very many people actually read it." and, Trump's lawyers added, most of them were already planning on killing the judge, his clerk and also leader Schumer anyway . . .

It's Friday, Jim Jordan has gone down in flames and Trump has been sanctioned. It could have been a worse week.

NYT (today): "Trump Fined $5,000 for Breaking Gag Order by Leaving Abusive Post Online"

. . . In a new order on Friday, Justice Engoron said he had imposed only a β€œnominal” $5,000 fine because it was Mr. Trump’s first violation and an unintentional error, but he warned that additional infractions would merit harsher punishments.

β€œMake no mistake: future violations, whether intentional or unintentional, will subject the violator to far more severe sanctions,” Justice Engoron wrote.

Just_Jim's avatar

I hope that not paying the fine means jail.

If that’s true, please Trump don’t pay the fine. Show that judge he’s not the boss of you.

"the violator" has a nice ring to it. I shall use it forthwith when referring to PAB.
