We Get Letters: Karen Feld Edition

FormerExaminergossip and queen-of-all-media Karen Feld has a small bone to pick with Wonkette. So she sat right down and wrote a letter to our bosses. It's reprinted in its entirety after the jump, but here's the gist:
What documentation does he have that I suffer from dementia?
And that I am a dog abuser?
Pareene gets a stern, rambling talking-to, after the jump.

Alex Pareene needs to check his facts. I have been an award-winning respected journalist for 40 years and could teach Pareene a thing or two. Fortunately, I have never met the guy; and unfortunately, he has never made any attempt to contact me to check out his false and defamatory accusations.
Just to note a few nasty and uncalled for inaccuracies:
"DC's favorite dementia-suffering dog-abuser Karen Feld," August 31, 2006
"Karen Feld is unemployed," July 3, 2006
What documentation does he have that I suffer from dementia?
And that I am a dog abuser?
Is this supposed to be amusing? I don't think so.
And most recently, on Nov. 10, 2006:
Weirder Still, the Dog Was Listed As Being With the 'Times'
The IFE (Institute for Fiduciary Education), like every single other organization in this town, throws an awards dinner every year. We got our hands on the guest list of this year's gala, and in with your typical media types, corporate types, government types, and embassy types, one name stood out:
That would be poor, kicked-to-the-curb gossip-ish columnist Karen Feld, formerly of the Examiner, currently of no one in particular. And certainly not the Post. Harmless error? Possibly. But we suspect she's pulling a Julia Baugher.
I'm happy to learn that with all the big names only one stood out, mine. I don't think many people would describe me as "poor, kicked-to-the-curb gossip-ish columnist Karen Feld." I have been published with by-line in the Wash. Post. Also in the Wash. Times and DC Examiner. I have NEVER worked for any of those papers, nor have I ever said I did. I have worked for Capital Connections for 30 years and have contracts with various publications to purchase my syndicated material. Too bad your Wonkette didn't check that out. The only one unemployed is Pareene's mother who lost her Congressional bid.
I have never heard of IFE and certainly did not attend their event. If someone is using my name or someone at IFE made an error I don't know anything about that, but I do know that had Pareene done his homework, he would have found the answer. If someone is using my name or someone at IFE made an error I don't know anything about that, but I do know that had Pareene done his homework, he would have found the answer.
And finally, to say I'm pulling "a Julia Baugher" is a highly libelous statement with no basis in fact at all.
Please correct on line with an "unsnarky" apology the untrue defamatory statements that Pareene wrote about me, and then remove the original item from the Wonkette website.
I'm confident that as professionals we can resolve this matter without involving attorneys and the legal system. I look forward to hearing back from you within the next 24 hours. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
