If she DIDN'T wear something nice, those same people would go on about how she looks homeless because "socialism" and how nobody will be allowed to have nice clothes.

You know what is hypocrisy? The HypoChristian set (the first "s" can be silent.

Of course, what radical righters really want is for women to show up barefoot and pregnant.

.. nothing to add here, & no notes 🧐👍😅😼.. precisely so; the delusion that only poor grumpy people are socialists is part of the problem, & only benefits rich a-holes 🥸😅🧐

💯, I spent *way* less than that for handmade boots from a cool guy in Turkey. They are gorgeous but damn do they need the cushion added.

These same people, I GUARANTEE IT, would have polices her clothing the other direction if they had deemed something she wore to be not "nice"/dressy enough. You'd be reading about them inferring disrespect or that she was making a statement about <waves hand> something-something-La Revolución.

As per usual, even when the woman ISN'T the one in power, she'll be made a villain no matter what she does.

I do not begrudge her $600 boots. She has taste, unlike Nancy Mace, whose boots were NOT made for walking, only for propping her boobs up on a bathroom sign. Yech.

What I find noticeable -- in the most positive way -- is that she's wearing vegan shoes. No cruelty involved.

Ta, Robyn. When I don't buy vintage (most of my wardrobe), I choose clothing and accessories made ethically and sustainably. That way, nobody gets screwed. Living wages for the farmers who grew the fiber, the weavers of that fiber, and the makers of the clothes. I still have too many articles of clothing (one of the exes used to practice retail therapy way too often; some of my duds are from that era). Remember when that building blew up in flames because of a gas leak on 2nd Avenue and 7th Street? I brought a big bagful of unworn fancy clothes, many still bearing tags, to a collection point for that building's residents just in time for them to have something nice to wear for Passover/Easter.

A few weeks ago, I was gifted a very warm deep brown winter jacket with a hood; the former roommate of a friend had died and it belonged to her. Right before our vacation, one of my clients visited. As she was leaving (wearing only a padded vest over her sweater), she said, "I need a coat." I said, "Come with me." It fits her to a T, it was too big for me, and I have a problem with 100% polyester; she does not. Years and years ago, a good friend said, "Zyxomma, I figured it out. You shop at the same Sally Anns (Salvation Army stores) I do, but you always wear good shoes, bags, and jewelry." Rama has great style, and celebrity loans are one of the ways unknown designers become known. It's a good thing.

My tiny town is a very wealthy tiny town. The charity shops here (and there are many of them) are like Aladdin's Cave for designer stuff.

You’re a brilliant and thoughtful writer.

Didn’t she look sharp and put together? I think she’s beautiful. I enjoy seeing them together. Here’s to many years of righting wrongs and lifting people up instead of trampling them.
