Lou Dobbs is canceled . Not in the way that he said or did something terrible (as if doing so would be a departure for him) and people are saying they are no longer interested in watching his show or otherwise supporting him. Rather, he has been canceled in the way that he is no longer the host of Lou Dobbs Tonight on Fox Business, and neither is anyone else, because of how the show has been literally canceled, by Fox Business.
First reported on Friday afternoon by the LA Times, the news came just one day after Dobbs was named — along with fellow Fox Business hosts Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro — in Smartmatic's defamation lawsuit against Fox due to his perpetuation of bizarre conspiracy theories involving the voting machine company. But according to Fox, they were already planning on axing him anyway and are standing by their terrible and obviously defamatory election coverage.
Via LA Times:
"As we said in October, Fox News Media regularly considers programming changes and plans have been in place to launch new formats as appropriate post-election, including on Fox Business," the representative said in a statement.
"This is part of those planned changes. A new 5 p.m. program will be announced in the near future."s)
The network has been reevaluating its programming on Fox News and Fox Business Network since the fall and implemented a number of program and host changes in anticipation of President Biden's administration entering the White House.
Lou Dobbs Tonight is (was) the highest rated show on Fox Business, so it's certainly an unusual programming choice to give him the axe. It's hard to say that they fired him for being overtly terrible or for promoting the conspiracy theory that the election was stolen from Donald Trump, given the fact that Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro still have jobs there.
Rumor has it that he may be replaced with Trump economic advisor Larry Kudlow, so it doesn't seem like the network is looking to go in a less asinine direction. Is there something we don't know about Lou Dobbs? Perhaps! He was pretty terrible on air, so it stands to reason he wasn't particularly pleasant otherwise.
Let us not forget, that, like Tucker Carlson, Lou Dobbs got his start on CNN as the station's chief economic correspondent. And by start, we mean he was there for almost 30 years, from its inception in 1980 to 2009, when he was let go following public pressure over the fact that he was pushing the racist birther conspiracy theory that President Obama was not a United States citizen on air. This, along with Phil Donahue getting fired from MSNBC for opposing the Iraq War, is a great thing to bring up whenever anyone starts talking about "the liberal media." Hopefully, we will not be seeing him popping up as a co-host on Crossfire any time soon (not that Newt Gingrich is any better).

Maybe the mustard got on the suit and put him over the edge.
I can't help but think this is an actual joke, but who knows.
