Maybe it’s time to abandon this weeks of sobriety thing. It’s have no sazerac rye, but I do have some olive brine in the fridge and some tanqueray. No dry vermouth, though, so it’d have to be a bone dry dirty martini for dinner.
TGIF and Happy Hour bev has been poured! I had a new one on the beach this week - "Bitch Margarita". My partner's sister made them and they were SOOO good, I forgot the recipe! (Just text'd her to send it to me!). As I foggily recall, it's pretty simple, basically a 'beach martini' (tequila, triple sec, and limes). I just don't recall the proportions.
That one day on the beach was the only good part of the trip. Travelling was hell, the condo property has gone downhill since the last time we stayed there, the hound had an anxiety freak-out with the diving seagulls (OUTSIDE the window!!), and a few more unplanned fck-ups which I've already erased from memory. We got home yesterday evening and home has never felt so welcoming! Oh, and 'Bertha' was a bust, so that was another good thing that had potential to ruin the trip, but did not materialize. All for now - Noma

I am on the hunt. Sitting outside one of the box stores are 20 pallets, stacked higher than my head, of raised bed, potting soil. There’s no price on them, which means they are being taken inside pallet by pallet and sold. And in a very few short weeks, the growing season is going to be over and no one is going to be planting growing beds here. I have seven beds on order, because right now they are being marked down and moved out out of inventory and seven beds is a lot of soil, even with logs in the bottom to take up some of that space.
So the hunt is on, and my only competition are the other scavengers, such as myself. So I wait, I cruise the lot, I check out the other stores to see if they have equally large piles and pallets, I suspiciously eye the other scavengers, circling, I watch for the August, and then the late August markdowns, and then I swoop! I hit! And when they’re marked down 50%, I go to the manager and tell him I need a pallet, and ask if they will take it down to the next markdown, and give me free delivery. Because that’s who I am.
“By addressing these health markers early, we’re keeping you on the leading edge of lethality.”
"the leading edge of lethality”? What a cartoonish and fucked up sense of self and world view Pete Hegseth must have, like a lame and sad misunderstanding of 'Dr Strangelove': Petey did not understand that it was satire.
I’m thinking it is going to happen because Donvict is already sitting on a sex trafficking/rape/pedophile powderkeg as it is. But then again, I know better than to expect anything but the absolute worst from maga, so who knows.
I’m going to NYC to see a Broadway show tomorrow! I was there last weekend too, just to kick around and go to the Met. It got me thinking about public transit. I do have a car, but for trips like this I’m completely Team Train. From my town, I walk 15 minutes to the station, pay $20 to hop on a train and be seamlessly deposited in the middle of Manhattan. Then if I need to be elsewhere in the city, I pay $3 to hop on the subway to wherever I need. No logistics, no parking fees—which would absolutely match the cost of the ticket if not more. Since the trains run about every half hour, I hop back on whenever I’m ready to go home. My hometown had no public transit and you had to drive 20 minutes to get literally anywhere. I love public transit.
I love public transit too. I lived in Chicago for a while many years ago, and you really can't afford to get around any other way in a city that large.
God, I miss cocktails. Ever since I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer back in April, I've had to forgo any kind of alcohol. I've had my four sessions of chemo, and either at the end of next week or the beginning of the following I'm going to have a heart valve replaced because they don't want to do the cancer surgery with it as it is. Three or four weeks after that I'll have the esophageal surgery, which will take a couple of months to recover from. Then when all that's done, they'll start treatment for prostate cancer. Once this is all done I'm going to find a place that will make me a pitcher of Vieux Carres, made with the good stuff. Or maybe I'll spend a long weekend in Medina.
FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — A West Virginia lawmaker is accused of enticing a minor on Roblox and Snapchat and then engaging in sexual conduct with her, according to federal court documents filed Wednesday.
Republican Del. David Elliott Pritt, 36, is charged with enticement of a minor in an investigation of allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a student at the school where he taught, a federal criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court said.
OT is it me? Just caught myself cruising the tubes of the internet for potential new Halloween decorations to add to this year's gruesome display... egads.
The people of Albania have not stopped protesting against their government and prime minister for selling off public land to Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Today they blasted their politicians’ cars with eggs. This is day 54 of the Flamingo Revolution.
How did they manage to get 250,000 people to show up for the March on Washington in 1963??? They didn't even have a subway system in DC until 1976, Still, people managed it, so I don't know why we can't do that kind of thing again.
Just wait until they decide to cut SS benefits...the OLDS are retired and a significant % of them can afford to go anywhere they want, so if someone organizes a protest they will show up. Finding hotel rooms will be the hardest part.
A while back a poster here blocked me because I called him out when he was going off on Millennials and Gen Z because they weren't out protesting every day. The poster would be out there, but you know he's married, has kids to feed, a mortgage, car payments, and all that.

He means brutalizing American Helots.
In such a context, "The Book" deserves to be capitalized. I too intend to write The Book someday...

You are seen!
If you’re hunting, probably not great.
ETA: went with emotion, then had my mind add something.
[looks pointedly away from pallets]
So now we know the dirt on you OTOH.
I am among friends.

It's Transgender For Everyone™ after all!
And he carries around the idea that everyone sees him as a serious badass.
I keep thinking about how Barron is sulking and mad at dad because he’s letting the rape bros be extradited.
Boo hoo.
He's his father's son
How can we tell when he's sulking? He looks like Lurch anyway.
Years ago I read one of those Anne Rice witch books. Whenever I see that kid, all I can think is: Taltos
He’s probably just extra whiny and shrill when he’s sulking. Not that the rotting orange would notice or care.
Is Barron going to join up for his father's war - or are the hereditary 'bone spurs' going to keep him from serving?
Or pay for the pardon out of his own damn grift funds?!?!
Loser!
I still don't believe it'll happen, "𝐛𝐮𝐭"...he does throw everyone under the bus eventually.

German media says Russians pay 4€ per liter … but their own photo says 80 cents.

The hell you say.
Through Roblox, how skeevy can you be?
she came to visit him for sex five to ten times.
Funny how a judge explicitly told Trump he did not have the authority to impose tariffs.

I saw a photo somewhere - possibly here on Wonkette - of a bunch of skeletons riding bicycles, and I thought that was hysterical.
If Albanians effectively protest to overturn a Trump smash-and-grab, what’s our excuse?
The population is really spread out and public transportation is a joke.
Getting a million people to DC isn't easy.
In Albania they can do that by train.
none.
except lazy, and ineffective opposition organizing.

Why the fuck can we not do this???
Selfish
But also the federal minimum wage hasn't been raised since 1992 ... and everyone else's wages even at private companies are tied to that
New TikTok dance?
Right to Work laws? Barely making ends meet as it is so even if you don't get fired for missing a day you can't afford to not get paid?
I suspect that's a big part of it.
pretty much all of it, honestly.
being currently unemployed, I've got a bit of a different perspective on this.

Our eggs are too expensive.
Don't worry, you can be sure the President will have brought those prices down in two weeks.
Same as always.
