WH Pool Report: And Assorted Wisconsin Cheeses Edition

A mercifully brief pool report on last night's Republican National Committee gala, worth referencing here for a single mini-anecdote:
The high point was the appearance of noted fight promoter Don King, who sat at the podium with about two dozen other folks, waving two small American flags and interrupting Gillespie's introduction by shouting "four more years, four more years.''
Well, it is hard not to get excited when the rich drunk white people are throwing their money around like that.
Full report after the jump.

Republican National Committee Gala
Marriott Wardman Park Hotel
The trip to the Marriott through lovely Rock Creek Park, and the return journey via the same route, was uneventful, as was the 36-minute speech delivered to supporters. If any news was committed, it passed by your pooler like a John Smoltz fastball.
A couple notes for those keeping score at home:
The total amount of money raised at this year's RNC gala reached $38.5 million -- a record, Ed Gillespie assures us. The number of attendees was placed at 1,500, and the theme was Taste of the States.
The menu, which your pooler regretfully passed up, included crab cakes, Boston cream pie, New York Cheesecake, smoked country ham, fried green tomatoes, peach cobbler, California rolls, smoked salmon, baked Alaska, assorted Wisconsin cheeses, roast beef, apple pie, St. Louis pork ribs, empanadas and churros.

Other than that, you should have the transcript and I'm headed home.
