I guess he thinks people (like me, back before I got. decent job as a teacher) will get a couple thousand dollars and decide: "Now I can slack off and watch teevee for a month!" instead of "Now I can pay to take my kids to the dentist!"

TBF, when I worked in the construction industry a million years ago, I used to hear about guys who worked in the field who would work just long enough to pay for a good bender and then just not show up until they'd run out of money and sobered up. But even then, it was universally acknowledged that they were outliers, just outstanding trash.

Steinbeck, “Of Mice and Men”:

‘George shuffled the cards noisily and dealt them. Whit drew a scoring board to him and set the pegs to start. Whit said, "I guess you guys really come here to work."

‘"How do ya mean?" George asked. Whit laughed. ‘"Well, ya come on a Friday. You got two days to work till Sunday." "I don't see how you figure," said George.

‘Whit laughed again. "You do if you been around these big ranches much. Guy that wants to look over a ranch comes in Sat'day afternoon. He gets Sat'day night supper an' three meals on Sunday, and he can quit Monday mornin' after breakfast without turning his hand. But you come to work Friday noon. You got to put in a day an' a half no matter how you figure."

‘George looked at him levelly. "We're gonna stick aroun' a while," he said. "Me an' Lennie's gonna roll up a stake."‘

Stephen Moore would have advised Jesus that feeding the people with those 5 loaves and 2 fish would just encourage them to follow Jesus everywhere. They would expect him to feed them everyday. And when would Jesus have time to ride dinosaurs and play with his AK47?

..."follow Jesus everywhere."

"...play with his AK47?"

Well per Amurka, you NEED a crowd in order to use your AK.

“The only way we get the money to do this is to print it”. No, fucker, we tax the rich fairly and maybe stop bailing out trading houses, and we’ll have the money to do it. Jesus H, these people are greedy fuckers with tiny little minds..

Just goes to show that you don't need to have any brains to get rich in America. Just look at a sample of the rich.

Yeah, I wish there was some government money to be given away, because I sure as hell could use about $5-600 pronto.

You ever try moving from a place with no money?

You turn to places for help and it's "sorry, nothing we can do ". Not 100, not 200. Nobody can help

I have to go back to packing boxes now. 72 hours l have left.

What difference does it make how the recipients actually spend their pittance? Most will use it for necessities, but even if they don't... it still means more money in the pockets of ... ohhh... the neighborhood liquor store clerk, the trucker delivering the booze, the people at the distillery, etc. etc.

And probably cheaper to just give it to anyone in a class (like parents of children) than to hire bureacrats to means check who is and isn't among the "deserving poor". .

Why are they so convinced there’s no money for this, when most of it was already coming in the child credit?

We could survive without it, but that year was definitely the high point for sports/Scouts/clubs/school lunch participation in my neighborhood. And all the kids were there, not just my fellow middle class peeps. It was good for Little League and all the small businesses that do kid activities. Back into the local economy it went!

Nah. Study after study shows that the less well off use cash assistance for things like rent and food. On the other hand, the rich will use it for things like redecorating their office to the tune of $80K with TARP funds. People like me remember that shit. Like bankster Charles Antonucci defrauding TARP for $54.6 million. So shut the hell up, Stephen Moore, you loser. Oh, and all the other dirtbag Republicans who had their PPP loans forgiven and complain about food for children.

Wait a minute, we can't just give these poors money! It will eat into the $757 Billion of subsidies we paid the Oil and Gas industry in 2022. These damn parasites have got to get off their lazy asses and work at demeaning and low paying jobs that kill whatever joy they have left in their souls. Look, I got this swell toupee and a suit from Men's Wearhouse, so I think I pretty much have demonstrated that I'm an expert on the economy.

One of the major reasons why many people are not working is because they are convicted felons who can't get a job (or get subsidized housing, or get food stamps). Also, many of them they went to prison because they couldn't afford a private attorney but had to rely on overworked, underpaid public defenders. In Missouri they release people from prison with $5. FIVE DOLLARS! They drop them off at the nearest bus station at 4 or 5 am, and $5 isn't enough to buy breakfast at the bus station. And as of a few months ago, they can't even get a free Obamaphone.

Let's also ignore all the able bodied people providing child or elder care because our country doesn't have a decent system for either.
