Screech-owl looks like me waking up. You sure this isn't from someone stationed in my window?

That owl has MURDERED me!

calliecallie, aka pollyanna's avatar

Sure, but then do you wink at whoever's with you, like that owl does?

ReSister For Life Callyson's avatar

So. Damn. Cute!

Reassuring to find that even members of the animal kingdom also wake up with bed-head and a seeming inability to get one's eyes to open.

I’ve been waking up screeching every morning since January.

I heard you like owls. I also like owls. https://i.imgur.com/Jvr65rZ.jpeg

Screech owls!

There's an owl, not a screechy creature, who resides in the alley behind my house. It's OK though. The neighborhood does its own screeching...

They are good neighbors, hooty owls. The pressure they put on the small mammal population allows the birds to flourish while denying rats any peace.

Menotsure's avatar

There are times that seem so dire

That they need more than a screech

A wise old owl will practice hard

Til he can scream "impeach".

TootsStansbury 🇺🇦's avatar

Screech owls are so little and cute, and their calls on an autumn night are the best thing.

Of the few uses I find for Facebook, the group, The Owls Kingdom, along with Big Tree Seekers, is one.

As one night worker to another, I salute him. Or her. I have no idea how you sex screech owls.

Shocktreatment's avatar

"I have no idea how you sex screech owls."

Neither do I.

In fact, I've gone my entire life without even considering the process. A sheltered life, I lead...

(I had never heard of Gertrude Berg — like a 1940s Oprah — who invented the sitcom, or her sitcom, “The Goldbergs,” about Jewish immigrants. And then came the blacklists. (New Yorker))

You never heard of her because you are just a kid.. She was really loved by her fans.

President Know Nothing is what is sometimes called a PAB: pussy assed bitch. All apologies to the ladies for usage of the B-word.

Sorry for the outburst. As you were.

OMG, Kimmel showing clips of the Orange Shitstain and he was babbling about raking the forests again! WTAF is wrong with people who think this individual is not totally demented?

Speaking as a Forest Californian, it's fucking exhaustipating.

To his cult of ignorant nihilist lowlifes, “totally demented” is a feature, not a bug.

I like how the AP picture of the protesters outside the restaurant is labeled "WARNING: OBSCENITY" and it took me ages to find it, a "Fuck Corporations" on the dense-text sign in the middle. Oh, lordy, lordy, bad words! *clutches pearls*

And Politico of course has to point out that someone is making migrant-friendly AI videos, of course, because even in the face of blatant fascism and autocratic abuse of state power they really, really, need to do "Bothsides!".

All those National Guardsmen laying around on the floor? They should be out at Home Depot right now, hiring themselves out as day laborers.

The people need them, and they'd be making a little extra scratch until the Pentagon gets their shit in gear with their paperwork so they can be paid and receive benefits during this deployment.

HuffPost: "Trump Says ‘Changes Are Coming’ To Immigration Policy After Farmer Complaints

Critics predicted that Trump’s heavy-handed crackdown on immigration would have dire impacts for America’s farms and service industry sectors. Now, the president appears to be having some second thoughts after seemingly hearing complaints from “our great Farmers and people in the Hotel and Leisure business.”

They “have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“In many cases the Criminals allowed into our Country by the VERY Stupid Biden Open Borders Policy are applying for those jobs. This is not good. We must protect our Farmers, but get the CRIMINALS OUT OF THE USA,” he said, adding, “Changes are coming!”

Video emerged Wednesday showing ICE officers chasing farm workers through California farms. The Los Angeles Times reported that an “eerie silence” hung over Central California fields in the hours after some 35 people were detained."

"How could anyone possibly have known?!"

(...except for anyone with two braincells to rub together.) It brings to mind a post I read recently about how fascism kind of makes a point of not being able to know important things, particularly about how the world really works.

Pere Ubu's avatar

Yeah, "get the criminals", but then the numbers don't look so good so Reichsminister Muller needs to have the ICEholes assault Home Depot and Sev's 'cause that's where THOSE PEOPLE hang out.

Also saw the ICEholes managed to grab a US Marshal by mistake the other day. Hails of derisive laughter!

The foundations of my existence were shaken today. As I was preparing to take out the trash today, my wife told me it is only Thursday.

rawrtigerlily's avatar

Sounds like you were ready for it to be Friday. :)

I was ready for Friday. Now I've blown my loa . . . excitement for the weekend. Gonna be meh all weekend long.

Biff52 Lost Canadian's avatar

But Thursday *is* trash day here! I just saw the truck driving by on the other side of the road. I'm next!

My Congressman, along with Rep. Jamie Raskin, co-sponsored legislation to force retailers to reveal how much of the price consumers pay is going to tariffs. Rep. Carbajal calls it the Truth in Tariffs Act says its aim is to bring transparency to how much the regime is costing consumers and to prevent retailers from taking advantage of the confusion to jack up prices.

I am old enough to have seen the Goldbergs.

I was born and raised in Miami, but I have lived in Maryland since 1973. When someone asked if I will move back after retirement, I say "No way!" Unfortunately I still have relatives in FL, all left wingers.
