I think we should remove immigrants and all immigrant descendants from this country. Starting with the Pilgrims.

I would hope that the people of Springfield and of Ohio in general would look at the chaos in their community and see it as a direct consequence of voting republican.

But I’m skeptical.

What, did you forget your "Press" badge?

Aside: That looks like a really comfy, welcoming public meeting room in the Springfield City Hall.

Credit to the architects and designers of the complex. So many local government public meeting spaces today are simply stages on which public officials get to preen on public-access TV, and the needs of the public are second if thought about at all.

From the photos, it looks like the public benches in the Spring City Council chambers dominate the space and are auditorium-style so that everybody has a good view of the council. I'd guess that the view from the dias is humbling -- a view of a sea of constituent faces topped by a panoramic view through large windows of the city skyline.

You know, we might have more responsive government if we put more thought into how we design the spaces where the people's work is done.

How many of the people who came to that meeting to bitch about immigrants in Springfield actually live there?

Wonderful commentary and excellent photos. I feel very, very sorry for the people of Springfield, OH. They never wanted any of this crap.

"''But I'm with the New York Times,' claimed a tall, lanky man from the crowd. 'That doesn’t mean shit out here, bud,' I blurted out."

That does it. Dom is my new hero.

'One might call them ā€œchildless pet owners,ā€'

You may want to tread carefully here, Dom. This is a little too close to Vance whining about childless cat ladies.

I'm pretty sure that was intentional :)

If so, I didn't get it.

If I were native American I would spend so much time at town halls like this lining up with the nut jobs and bigots to say my piece about foreign immigrants with weird religious practices taking up all the housing and eating all the animals and generally ruining the place.

If you think the stuff the Hatian immigrants are allegedly doing to dogs and cats is horrific, wait until you hear about what these European invaders did to the American Bison!

You should hear about what the original aboriginal population of North America did with the mastodon and the giant sloth!

Wait til you hear about the 8 million native people they offed!

I donated to the Haitian Bridge Alliance, the Haitian diaspora organization that’s pressing criminal charges against Trump and Vance, because I appreciate their efforts to hold those two hatemongers accountable.

They have these open carry seminars down here and I wish half the attendees would be Black, just to make the point.
