Got it, Wonkette’s snark hits hard—Trump’s shutdown circus, complete with AI Grim Reaper and cowbell, is screwing feds and killing transit projects. Leavitt’s “tough decisions”? Classic DC nonsense. Polls pin 47% blame on Trump and GOP, with 71% wanting ACA extensions to end this. Meanwhile, Congress cashes in on insider trades and lobbying, thriving on gridlock.Time for a fix: term limits, stock trade bans, lobbying blacklists, ranked-choice voting, and public funding to gut dark money. Looking at the photo of Pissi Noem banging to get in for a pee, I wondered who are the two fat heads with obvious protective vests on under their shirts sporting the high and tight military bowl cuts?
A judge has ruled that Trump has provide no evidence or terrorism violence that warrents injection of the National Guard into Portland. Little Goebbles ranted that the Judge was defying the president and that Portland does not belong to Portlanders but to all Americans. In short fascist gibberish.
🩵 A Quick Vocabulary Lesson for the American People
Dear Democrats, Independents, and anyone who still believes facts matter —
There are a few words we need to understand clearly if we’re going to have honest conversations about government, taxes, and healthcare.
1️⃣ Non-Starter
A non-starter is a situation where a conversation cannot move forward because someone is spreading misinformation and refuses to correct it.
Example: Republicans are claiming that extending Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits would “give illegal aliens free healthcare.”
That’s false.
The ACA provides assistance to help American citizens purchase health insurance — it is not free and it is not available to undocumented immigrants. Every person who benefits contributes their own money and participates as a paying customer.
If you can’t start the conversation with truth, that’s a non-starter.
2️⃣ Red Line
A red line is a limit you will not cross.
Democrats have drawn a red line on healthcare costs: we will not make American citizens pay double premiums just to satisfy political games.
If the choice is between protecting affordable care or giving in to lies, we choose the truth — even if that means a government shutdown.
3️⃣ Negotiation
Negotiation means reaching out to the other side to collaborate, to ask for their input, and to work on legislation together.
That’s how democracy is supposed to function.
4️⃣ Bipartisan
Bipartisan means both parties come together in agreement — not one party demanding the other give in.
It’s about shared effort, not forced surrender.
So, when you hear politicians on TV tossing around words like these, remember: vocabulary matters.
The truth matters.
And democracy depends on all of us understanding what’s really being said — and what’s being sold.
🩵 Let’s raise the level of conversation — not the volume.
Project 2025 is not a 10 year or 5 year plan It's a 180 day plan!! The objective is to replace our Republic with an authoritarian form of government with nearly all power being held by the Executive Branch. Additionally it calls for the establishment of a State supported if not decreed religion. Specifically Fundamentalist Protestantism
The Republican plan to solve our "Immigration Crisis" is pretty simple. Just make the United States such an awful place that more people are trying to leave than come in.
From the first time I heard it, I found the slogan "Make America Great Again" highly offensive. What kind of un-patriotic, America hating, POS do you have to be to believe that America ever was anything but GREAT! What nation is better overall? It has, at times, been better for some than others. but where is that not true? The worst treatment you might endure in the USA was still better than other places, and over the past 50 years we have been working hard to correct disparities Why else would people be breaking their necks and risking their lives to come to America? It was indeed "The Shining City on the Hill", but under this administration and the Project 2025 playbook, it is rapidly being changed into the " Shantytown Down Near the River"
Like to hear from others how the shutdown has affected them already
I have several small business owner clients who will be priced out of their health insurance. ACA policies allowed little businesses to have health insurance These are not Lazy, welfare cheatin' no goods sucking on the "govmint tit" They are people who routinely work 60-70 hours a week running their small shops, Most have never taken a vacation and cannot ever afford a "sick day" They drag themselves to work 6 or 7 days a week no matter how bad they feel. One I feel particularly bad for, is a girl who runs a small pet grooming operation. She is currently paying $92/month for a pretty decent policy. Without the subsidies her premium will go to $1658/month, if she can get coverage at all because of her preexisting conditions. NO! Her condition is in no way behavior related! She's really "good girl" by anyone's standards. She does what she does because she just is a devoted animal lover. This amounts to a death sentence. No way she can pay the premium without the subsidies, and without her current care and medications she might last a year or two. She is years 43 years old, single, no children, and apart from her subsidies, has never gotten a dime of aid.
I had been working with a small group of investors on a project to convert an abandoned building in a very accessible location into a small 36,000 sq ft medical arts building with parking for about 50 cars. The idea was to offer both traditional and alternative treatment and referrals as well as plans to acquire an adjoining property to establish a no questions asked "free clinic"
All the turmoil caused by the re-election of Asshole and the BBB sort of put the brakes on that and this shut down was probably the final nail in the coffin
The MAGA movement has crushed innovation across a wide range of industries and disciplines. Instead of working towards a better future for all, we are now looking to return to a "glorious past" which existed only in TV and Movie fantasy and in the twisted imagination of the Mad King and his court.
For those unfamiliar, yes the CTA Red Line Expansion is in fact about getting the Red Line (the main north-south line of the L) to serve the [checks map] South Side where all the Black people live. So yes, sorry, we did a DEI guilty as charged. (The Red-Purple is about making life easier for gentrifiers, but otoh it does fix the most congested interchange in the system at least theoretically)
I thought it was because they hired too many Black people to build the thing. Or maybe they'll hire too many Black conductors. Who knows with these fucks?
Chicago does have strict rules about minority- and women-owned subcontractors, so I assume that's also part of it. Although, frankly, Trumpsters should love that process which in Chicago is notoriously corrupt.

There’s no sense of history among the America First crowd. Or ….maybe they know exactly what it means.

To people like Miller DEI is like equal opportunity employment.
Re: Christie...That's Entertainment!
they could have demanded a genital check to decide which bathroom she can use
GMTA
Kristi Gnome and her 'we're being victimised here because they won't let me use the bathroom' bullshit is so pathetic
Just go to a fuckin' McDonald's like the rest of us have to do, Kristi! Fuck you!
I was a mass transit fan from way back because I used it all the time as I had no car. I did not realize that this meant I was a commie pinko.
Conservatives really hate mass transit. I mean hate. Like almost as much as they hate women.
