Btw I’m glad these folks didn’t know who Sam Seder is and agreed to “debate” him. Sam is arguably in the top one or two of online commentators when it comes to debating and imo he would rank first.
She is appalled that white cis Christian nationalists have to see ‘others’ celebrating their cultures in plain view. They’d like this country to be like the old Twilight Zone episode where everyone had to have an operation to look the same. They are running scared. That makes them dangerous to democracy.
Since when are the dudes at the Blaze such snowflakes that they fire a blonde woman under 40 for sexual comments?
Kidding! They probably didn't care about that but needed an official excuse. I don't blame them. Can you imagine being stuck in the break room with this lady?
PS- it would be hilarious to hear a room fulla Xenophobes get asked which cultures are included in the term "European".
MAGAts are pretty similar to the original Nazis, but less intelligent and more crazy The main reason I fled the United Snakes 30 years ago is because I absolutely didn't want to live in the kind of Christo-fascist dystopia that Nazi fanatics like Sarah Stock thinks is so great. Unfortunately, between Trump, Musk, and Project 2025, we might be seeing that real soon.
"Perhaps Elon Musk can buy them that Fyre Festival island or some other uninhabited island where they can live out their dream of homogeneity."
I was just reading a piece about how the tech bros are hoping to build some Libertarian super cities, where everything runs on crypto and their fever dreams of an anarcho-capitalist culture that caters to their every whim. I say let them try - I don't think people are going to be rushing to live there, but maybe they can get AI to whip up a holodeck so it seems like they've got subservient minions. And it would get them out of everyone else's hair to boot.
I watched this. Those 20 MAGAssholes were the most misinformed people I’ve ever heard. Almost like they get all their news and talking points from Fox News. The one guy thought that a federal agency got tax cuts for DEI hires! And some of them thought a theocracy was a good thing! No wonder they voted for the clown show.
We are a country of both indigenous and immigrant cultures that go back to the 1770s. The Statue of Liberty itself invites the world to come to America and live free from tyranny. Now we not only have a budding tyrant as president, but so many fangirls and fanboys rooting for this tyranny to spread and grow.
But just which "European" culture are we talking about here? We were never even meant to be a European country. In fact, we brought people here from Africa and Asia. We began eating their food, enjoying their music, even wearing their clothes.
I love diversity. I fell in love with it when I lived in Egypt, in the cities such as Cairo where there are people from all over the world. And there are no xenophobic morons whining about protecting Egyptian culture, which is a heck of a lot older than America's.
Dear goddress, Robyn, you watched that entire thing?? I think it's been about two months since I was disabused of my long held believe that most people are good and honest and well intentioned. It was a sad, sad time for me; I'm still not ok. I'm up on the news via Wonkette and various substacks, but I cannot bear to hear the maga supporters speak. They are either hateful or uninformed, or both--and it kills me these people live among us, near me even. I'm not a nervana type person, I've worked in both non-profit and corporate america as an accountant and I DID NOT KNOW how hateful a huge number of my fellow americans are. I could only watch a few minutes.
Me too. I fight against the hopelessness by reading about the court cases, believing/hoping they will stand. I read the Contrarian, and Heather Cox Richard, and Joyce Vance Civil Discourse. It's the rule of law theory that keeps me going. If the courts can stop him, great. If the supreme court would finally stop him, fantastic. It's all we have left. Bless your broken heart--it means you know what is right. Stay strong however you can.
I saw a documentary about this. Except it was a chromo-state (all pink!) and the denizens were ladies who addressed each other "Hi Barbie!" Even there, however, cracks started to show.
These Barbies don't know "European" from East Asian. They desperately want male approval and are willing to slum for it in the Nazi ghettos of the internet. More than anything, it's just sad.

Sam is great. I’m not as fond of tge younger generation on his show but Sam himself is great.

She is scary. There is nothing Christian about her movement.
“What’s the matter with xenophobic nationalism?”, to the tune of “What’s So Funny ‘Bout Peace, Live and Understanding?”

I'm the same. I am heartbroken and feeling rather hopeless.

Does nobody understand the concept of diversity and its need in evolutionary terms?
No, they don't accept science.

It's like looking for a spouse on death row. That's what trad Barbies do.
Have you ever noticed how the few women who work for Trump mostly all look alike? And that all the people closest to him are white males?
There is only one "culture" that we all need to assimilate to: The United States Constitution.
MAGA has failed this test. They will have to go.
Whenever Sam cited a fact, his debate opponent would simply say "That's not true!"
Great comeback.
Being in my 70’s I won’t be around when these kids get older and I would love to see them speak on the same subjects in 50 years.
