A dear friend (departed) spent most of her working life in the paper industry. IP bought them. Their pensions and other benefits evaporated. She moved to a less expensive city. I agree completely that labor and environment are aligned for the good of all.

Can't say the same; I use paper, and see it coming in, every day of the week. Since I do the ordering, I switched us over to paper containing post-consumerist recycled content; but I'd be even happier if I could switch to hemp paper. It's much more renewable than paper made from tree corpses, in a much shorter period of time.

Yes, he was. By the time he was president he was anti union. The first thing he did was crush the air traffic controllers' union. He changed.

It is also critical for unions to support the unified financing of universal healthcare (aka single-payer). Without the unions it will never pass in any state, and clearly it is never, ever, going to pass (initially) at the federal level.
