“…he said, 'if somebody wants to take you out, and doesn't mind losing their life, there's not a whole heck of a lot you can do about it.'” - That’s exactly the kind of take no prisoners, roll up your sleeves, can do spirit we want to see in our elected officials! 😃
I swear, to pursue elected office, be fully aware that getting shot in the head is a serious threat to public health, be in a position to do something about it, but instead actively choose to go 🤷🏻♀️, “squirrel!” and pivot to some bullshit about the border, school libraries, or drag queen brunches is not only criminal but sociopathic. The suckage and hypocrisy of Republicans is off the charts vile.
And the DEI slander against VP Harris is beneath contempt.
Ta, Robyn. The network for which I work has a group to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion. That's great. Unfortunately for me, they aren't serious about making sure that includes everyone. I shall say no more, because if there's one thing Kamala Harris is NOT, it's DEI "hire."
Right-wingers are the "asshole pride" movement. They're out of the closet and being bigoted assholes in every way possible. DEI is the antithesis of bigotry and assholeism, so of course they hate it.
At the moment, Mr. Burchett and his ilk are only addressing the faithful, vamping, if you will, while they transition to this new campaign. Our precious MSM are not listening to these attacks.
The only thing on the MSM's mind right now is the convention delegate horserace. Will she get enough or won't she? No talk of possible rivals who might swoop in. Just: Is she going to make it?
They must have their horserace, and they aren't going to pay attention to the other horserace until this horserace has resolved itself.
Typical headline: Harris has huge lead over potential rivals in new poll.
When BLM came out, the company I worked at created a DEI statement. At the time we had ONE Black person working there. After the statement, they were doing an executive search, we still had ONE Black guy working there. I was like, in the WHOLE country there wasn't ONE Black person nor woman of ANY color that was qualified?
DEI's, like mission statements (remember those POS?) mean nothing sadly. I wish they did. I know people who have been laid off this year, older people like me and women. I see them struggling to get another job. Meanwhile (and it was just one), a young white man got laid off and decided to ride out his severance somewhere nice. Luckily for HIM he was hired immediately. Granted it was just one man, but white men overwhelmingly get the jobs first.
Also women STILL make less than men. When you can bring everyone to the same salary for the same job then get back to me with your stinkin' DEI.
One of the things I hate about the RWNJ criticism of DEI: it isn't just about race, or gender, or sexual orientation. It also includes *neurodiversity*, and if they try to remove DEI from not just workplaces, but schools, where are the neuro diverse people supposed to go for jobs and education?
Yeah, I get that it's another way for them to avoid using the racist terms and words of yesteryear (though they still like to use "jezebel" and "slutty" and sexist, misogynist offal like that). The MSM coverage of DEI tends to gloss over what all is being affected by the RW push to drive DEI out of our modern society. I would very much like to walk up to these assclowns and tell them they are ignorant fools and should STFU and STFD. Apologies if this has already been stated, you've got almost 700 posted responses to this one!
Try to look surprised when Biden resigns the presidency on the eve of the democratic convention. The final stroke of his deft strategic plan will be to bequeath Harris the mantle of incumbency, right when that gesture will be the most powerful. He knows and you know that I know that among Allan lichtman's keys to presidential victory, the one with the greatest weight is incumbency. Joe still has cards to play and they are the most powerful ones in the deck. She will be president Harris before election day.
The guy in Atlantic magazine has got a totally right. If Joe Biden is anything he is a strategic thinker and planner. Nothing happens by accident and nothing happens at the last minute. There is no improvising. So again, just as he did with a budget threat and a credit limit threat and any number of threats, where weak willed and soft bladdered Democrats whine about their increasing fears and that Joe's going to let us down, Joe Biden came up with an even better performance than anyone could have expected, except those who know that Joe Biden does deliver and that that can be expected and that a person needs to have patience trust and perspective.
The news media and some Democrats are congratulating themselves right now for having caused this.
They did not. All they did was Bray and Moan during the time in which it would have been strategically stupid for Biden to step aside. The only proper time for Biden step aside would be after the Republican convention and before the Democratic convention. If Biden had stepped aside when everyone asked him to, before the Republican convention, he'd have handed the strategic advantage to Trump. Trump could have recalibrated his message for a different opponent and made actual use of the convention. Instead, Trump wasn't ready and as Trump has already admitted wasted all that time during convention week. And that's on top of the Goodwill that Trump threw away with his Castro style speech. So once again the nation has been saved by the fair-minded publicly focused in strategically directed mind of Joe Biden and his people. We count Kamala Harris among those people. She is her own great leader who has an even greater gift, and that is to be able to witness widens wise execution of power and resources towards his goals. That example will serve her well after her inevitable victory, her Landslide victory, over Trump.
I got into an argument with an extreme-liberal friend of mine last night. I am slightly less liberal than she is, and I maintain friendships with about five people who are Trump supporters. She ripped me a new asshole.
I told her I refuse to let Trump destroy my friendships with people that I knew and liked before Trump was a thing. He destroys everything else, why can't I keep my friends?
I am sorry, but I cannot imagine wanting to maintain friendships with people who are looking to strip rights away from others, and that it exactly what Trump and the current Republican party are actively seeking to do (or have already done).
I could see how people in the past might have had different political leanings that centered more on economic policies (though for a long time now it's been all about enriching the elite at the expense of everyone else for the Republicans) or international relations/the military/wars, but ... Trump and the current Republican party and anyone who supports them are okay with women/people of color/poor people/LGBTQ/etc. people being stripped of their rights, and that's not something I would want any friend of mine to believe is okay.
If you are willing to assume the risk. Like your "extreme-liberal" friend probably believes, I believe that any Trumpfan of your (or my) acquaintance will merely shrug their shoulders and move on with their day when the Trumpnazis come in a caravan of black SUV's to cart your and my ass off to Hellhole Political Re-education KKKamp.
Kamala’s VP pick will be a true DEI hire and we are 100% fine with that because we know that doesn’t mean unqualified. IT MEANS WE WANT TO HEAR DIVERSE OPINIONS FROM VARIED BACKGROUNDS.
DEI is the new N word.

Yep, he's likely right about that, but I keep a baseball bat in my classroom anyway, just in case I get a chance.

When my university laid a bunch of us off a few years ago, it happened to take most of the diversity off the faculty.
Yeppers...

Don't tell Trump what I just said.
Don't worry, you wrote it down instead of saying it out loud, and everybody knows Trump hates to read.

They are soo scared of Kamala...
YAY!!
no lie.
I SAW GOODWIFE DEI WITH THE DEVIL!
Any time I hear one of those idiots from the RepubliKKKlan south talk, I hear the strumming of "Dueling Banjos" in the background.

Sorry to shout, have a nice day.
DEI, like CRT, is just another way of saying N****r without actually showing your pointy white hat.
Is it a dog whistle if we can all hear it?
They're done with dog whistles, they use klaxons now.
