It *seems* to be a bit of strength (as opposed to "virtue") signaling, i.e. "The U.S. won't let some silly (if often lethal) virus keep us from going about our normal daily routine so we're perfectly willing to risk *your* kids safety to show this to the rest of the world."
Trump could fire Fauci today and Fauci wouldn't lose even one bit of the attention that this ignorant, murderous administration wants to deny him. It's quite possible he could speak much more frankly. Fauci is 79, doesn't need a paycheck at this point, and would probably do more good for the universe without Orange Pussball breathing down his neck.
I assume (possibly erroneously) that Trump's authority to fire civil servants is not limitless. Head of NIAID doesn't seem like a patronage position. *Can* Trump legally fire him?
The President can't directly fire career civil service employees. Their supervisors can, of course, but only in accordance with the Civil Service Reform Act - basically, only for (documented) misconduct or poor performance.
Even Maggie Haberman isn't swallowing it? It must be bad, then, because she'll swallow pretty much anything the Trump Administration squirts in her direction.
Chuck who?

No wait Chuck Woolery is going to be our next WH Chief of Staff, so they will have to keep Dr. Fauci a bit longer

Came here to say this.
What do you mean? You talk to them and they do shit for you . Still more reliable than Siri.
^This.
I'd skywrite it.
I was referring to their bulk.

A nice article on this: https://federalnewsnetwork....
2600 hits, all titles bashing him. Awesome. I did not even think to do a trump search. /hattip
Notice how Woolery never mentioned Trump or the Republicans in his "Everyone is lying!" tweet.
Even Maggie Haberman isn't swallowing it? It must be bad, then, because she'll swallow pretty much anything the Trump Administration squirts in her direction.
I think you got it.
Un-goddamn-belivable.
Hey, it was fucking cold, all right?
