The majority of Shitler's cabinet were "acting" which meant they didn't need to get Senate approval.

They "want employers to be able to screw their workers with impunity"

oh yes and always.

I don't think that it's pearls that they're clutching. Though I'm sure they are either clutching or buttock-clenching.

Trump's cabinet constantly had people on it who were just acting and not approved by the senate. Thank you for that road map republiscum

I am officially sick- had fever and chills last night and now have congestion and snot. I had 2 coworkers this week who both came into work with colds and who did not wear masks. I did but only once I realized they were sick - and obviously wasn’t enough. I am so angry with them- not only am I sick for Christmas but I probably exposed my family and aged parents but I’m supposed to leave on vacation tomorrow.

I'm sorry! Hugs. Hope you can enjoy your vacation and the holiday despite the cold.

It is not the government's responsibility to advocate for business. It's responsibility is to advocate for it's citizenry. Which workers are.

Expand full comment

It is government's responsibility to advocate for businesses when it primarily servers the interests of workers and consumers. I think that saving the auto industry was warranted, though I can never be sure.

Unless your government is fascist of course. In which case it would be the job of government to advocate for business

I did my Christmas dinner shopping earlier after getting some massive relief on the migraine front at urgent care. Got a gumbo box mix, some turkey, a bag of frozen corn, and some tea. Get home, go to put stuff in the fridge.

"Why is everything completely defrosted in the freezer?!"

Maintenance already came a couple weeks ago to look at the damn thing, but it's back to old habits and keeping things barely chilled. Currently, the corn is in the freezer with a prayer and the turkey is at the very bottom and back of the fridge (yay thermodynamics). I have to throw out SO MUCH FOOD that I no longer trust. I just have to survive until Tuesday.

Blackhawks take a three-goal lead into the third period, then cough up five goals to lose to the Blues.

A highlight-reel goal by Conner Bedard is wasted. Again. It's turning out to be typical of the Hawks season.

Finished watching Muppets Christmas Carol. Mrs. Arolpin may have had to admit she enjoyed it. Sipping a bourbon and eating a Pfeffernusse cookie; the spice complements the bourbon.

You and I are clearly on the same wavelength. Watched that with the kiddies this evening. No bourbon or cookies tho. Not feeling well enough.

Nice! Do you have that pfeffernusse recipe? Our 3rd cousin has the family recipe and I'd like to show up with a different spin, if you're at liberty to share.

I use the one from Joy of Cooking. I have an edition from the late 90s, but the recipe is the same as in my Mom's version from the 60s. Lots of spices, and I used dried Valencia orange peel rather than candied orange peel, because I think the smaller pieces work better, and you want the bitterness of the peel more than the sweetness of the sugar.
