First, I hate Bill Maher. I don't know who Bill Burr is, but I'm including him in my hate.
Second, this is so revealing. They're saying a man can sexually abuse a woman, or even *many, MANY* women (or preferred gender) in ways ranging from Louis to Cosby to Woody... sorry, flush of red covering my eyes... Anyway, and then after some time passes, why, they're welcome back! Haha, come on back fellas, the women have forgot about it and all's well. What is this talk of punishment, THERE'S NO PUNISHMENT. Sure you had to lay low a few months but that's over, now it's time to plan the comeback tour.
That's how much women matter to them. That's how much they use us and throw us away and grin sheepishly when caught, haha it was all in good fun. See Kevin spacey and Michael Fassbender.
Ta, Robyn. Ugh. You reminded me that Louis C.K. exists.
I remember what Rihanna looked like after being punched in the face by then-beau Chris Brown. His community welcomed him back with open arms. I thought he should have been drummed out of the business, forced into living as if he were in the federal witness protection program. Yes, Rihanna is far more successful than he, but that any of these abusers of women get to go about their lives as if nothing of any import happened, will never fail to infuriate and enrage me.
Surely there's a place in the MAGAverse for C.K. - he can tell hilarious stories about his horrifying behavior, and the neochauvinist-incel crowd will eat it up.
Louis C.K., Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Maher, and the rest of these whiny manbabies aren't suffering anything more than more people than they want telling them they're assholes. They can wipe away their tears with their giant stacks of cash.
"Maher was not at all interested in hearing — insisting, in a truly incredible display of self-awareness, that if either of them said ever anything wrong they could lose their careers “in two minutes.”
Hey Bill remember when you said the N-word on your HBO show and the whole thing got cancelled? Yeah, I don't remember that either.
Being canceled is apparently a fine gig if you can get it. These guys are doing just fine in their careers. What annoys them is probably that they have any detractors or non-listeners at all. But that is to take a rigid, tragic view of life instead of just changing your schtick a bit so it doesn't infuriate others.
You know, when Bill Maher defiantly swears that guys like him and Bill Burr could say one thing wrong and lose the careers in two minutes, this would be a great time to offer a few examples of people who went out this way. The closest thing I can think of is Michael Richards but he went on a long hateful tirade that just kept going and he certainly didn’t just say just ONE bad thing. Bill himself lost his ABC show over controversial comments about 9/11 but then came in for a nice comfortable landing at HBO for the last 20 years.
It's always the same damn thing - the problem is not that women were raped, the problem is "me too". The problem is not the harm suffered by people of colour from racism, it's that white people might get called racist. The problem is not the child abuse, it's the CPS investigation.
"Earlier this month we had Jerry Seinfeld out here talking about how you can’t make edgy shows like “Seinfeld” and “Mary Tyler Moore” anymore because of the “extreme Left and PC crap, and people worrying so much about offending other people”"
"It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" would like a word.
Black listing seems to me to be a kind of cancelling and that has certainly been frequent enough in the past. Lots of them deserved it a lot less than CK
Mel Gibson has been welcomed back to making movies even though he’s a drunken antisemite. The fact that his recent movies have all been terrible is a separate issue.
And I’m sure we’ll be seeing Kevin Spacey’s big come back very soon.
As far as I can tell, the only person who has been permanently “canceled” is Michael Richards for blurting out the N-word in the middle of his stand up.
Kathy Griffin has actually paid a bigger price in terms of her career for that Trump severed head pic than Louis C. K. has for jerking off in front of women he barely knew.

I vote to cancel Bill Maher. He annoys me.
Anyone?
"Mary Tyler Moore" was edgy?
Maybe he was thinking of "Murphy Brown" ... or maybe right-wing outrage isn't a problem.

Fuck Bill Maher.
...With an Incel.

Does "I shot the dog" qualify?

🎯The problem is not the arson, it's that someone reported the fire!

The fact that Bill Maher is considered, even by himself, to be an arbiter of culture says everything you need to know about decadence.

You called it re: Spacey. See Robyn’s post today.
Brilliant as always 👍🏼
