It's true, and thanks in part to them, that may be where we're headed. We have a full-on fascist party that has weaponized distrust dysfunction and the complete breakage of all the institutions needed to hold America together. We anti-fascists (democrats) are faced with fighting back in kind, or unilateral disarmament. That can only end in one of two places: a strong, unitary but fascist United States, or a North America that is so weak and mutually distrustful that it splinters the next time it's faced with a crisis that cannot be resolved through whatever political processes remain. We already saw the process begin last year during the early months of the Pandemic when regional interstate compacts replaced the Federal Government when it came to coordinated Pandemic response. Mutual trust has only withered since then, and future crises will only be worse.
