YAY! Comedy and irony are not dead, in the best way possible (within reason, that is). 😎

I signed up for the print version of The Onion when we were told to at some point in the past month(s) but have not seen a print version in my mailbox yet. On their website, it says things are moving slowly and they need to hire more people and get more machines, so I guess business is good?

It does warm my heart very very much that my monthly Onion funds may have helped them buy info wars. This is lovely and I approve.

I hope the print version shows up soon because family is coming. (are coming?) Mixed family. As in, not necessarily disappointed in the election results. If I could just stack that fine newspaper on the guest room toilet, that would be great, thanks. It's probably better than yelling something at dinner about the sound of money drowning out the sound of deportation squads, dying women, gunshots... so much fun!

I am so happy that The Onion survived the first dump presidency, and I hope that their expansion to print + the infowars buy mean that they're going to help us through the next X years. Speaking of X, I deactivated my account today. Was that right, or should I have done something else? Too lazy for bluesky at this point but maybe in the future.

I know I am old and all, but the Onion was a print publication when I was in college in Madison. It was free (ad supported) and it came with AV Club tucked inside (Dan Savage!). There were wire bins of it in the dorms and when it was delivered people would race to get it. It was also available in a lot of university building lobbies. We shared it around, we clipped the Community Pharmacy coupons, we read it as thoroughly as all the other free newspapers of actual news and referred to it as often.
