Robert Reich posted 10 reasons to be optimistic on Facebook and I have posted the full message to my Substack. It's really good.

They are afraid. They need to be more afraid of us. Tell them who they really are: SLAVES, and COWARDS. They can be replaced, and Trump will fire them, too. Make no mistake. He is a tyrant and needs to be removed, and any public official who supports him, or we are in Hitler's Germany in 1933.

Ya know, if they’re going to imagine Cheeto as Caesar, maybe the Senate can arrange for him to have the same ending as Julius did.

Yeah, but that didn't end up too well once everything had shaken out. (We're closer to Nero than to Caesar now -- anyone wanna see what Caligula looks like?)

They are frightened because "You were casting that vote after seeing with your own two eyes what some of these people are capable of [...] If they’re willing to come after you inside the U.S. Capitol, what will they do when you’re at home with your kids?”. YOU KNOW WHO ELSE SAW WITH THIR OWN TWO EYES"? All those D and I Congresscritters who have voted "no" on all these nominees (and the ones who didn't, Fetterman, among them? Screw them.) Those people saw the same things, have been targets of the far-right since at least 2016, and THEY STILL MANAGE TO DO THEIR JOBS.

Thanks for the Zappa reference Marcie. I was introduced to his music as an adolescent in the early 1970s and saw him for the first time in May of 1973. Not only did he have a huge influence on my taste in music, he also broadened my horizons in politics and social issues. Wish he was still around to lend his perspective on the current shitshow.

Just for the young folks, this is what we used to get on TV, actual debate of ideas. You might not agree but you generally learned something.

I weep for america.

Lower case is intentional.

Relying on Rethugs is always a losing proposition. My Backbencher Senators are covering themselves with the opposite of Glory by their silence as TFG lets Putin dog walk him…

I'm pretty disappointed that a wonderful creature, like a 'possum, is being compared to Republicans. You've tarnished the reputation of the 'possum brand!

On the issue of being scared, fuck off. Give me a single example of a Senator, Congressmen or any members of their family being hurt, outside of Pelosi's husband which you assholes thought was HILARIOUS. What does your oath to the constitution mean, anyway? It's an excuse, a pretext, a way to get out of their responsibilities and potentially also make us feel sorry for them. Fuck off.

If you’re afraid to vote to stop a criminal from being President because the people you whipped up into a frenzy with blatant lies frighten you, that’s on you. And it’s also time to resign. Saying they’re scared is a cop out. They may be scared if Trump supporters but they aren’t that scared. It’s not like these politicians are living next door to the dyed in the wool crazies who just might get violent. I have no empathy for them. The same people who only saw “patriotic Americans “ during the tea party rallies when you had white men spitting at black members of Congress and smirked about it are all suddenly final girl in a horror movie scared of their own voters? Fuck their fears. They’re ultimately playing along because they want to. And for all these people in the Democratic Party who eagerly tell reporters on MSNBC that certain Republicans have confided in them these fears? Name names! WTF? Liz Cheney doesn’t owe anyone her confidence either. If some Republican has told her he fears for his life, put that fool on blast! I’m all for keeping a person’s confidence, but this is a different situation altogether!

"Reported The Hill: “‘That’s one of the reasons why you see people who are close to an election — Bill Cassidy, Thom Tillis — voting for certain nominees,’ said one Republican senator who requested anonymity.”"

oof. Whenever I see someone arguing that some of the federal employees who quit rather than obey Trump/Musk should have stayed to muck up the works, I'm going to think about/mention these cowards who really have the power to muck up the works, but aren't willing to lose their "jobs."
