I have to wonder what corporation thinks that Boehner has ANY credibility or pull left to BE a lobbyist? That corporation is even more deluded than our mainstream media keeps proving to be.

The worst part of that scenario is that all of the "gold coins" and such that the fringe Tea Party and GOP twits have been hawking will sell like hotcakes, thus filling their coffers. For that reason alone (aside from the idea of saving the rest of us) I'd like to see the USA avoid that particular result of Boehner's "ass-hat-fuckwad-cowardice".

How could he NOT have realized just how batshit crazy, misogynistic, jingoistic and violent these twerps have become? Not only did we live through their inception through Karl Rove but, we lived through two terms of "W", a fake war & two terms of the emergence of the "true racism/sexism" of the Tea Party under Obama. If the FIRST government shut down wasn't a tip off, then the successive 50 votes to "defund" Obamacare, the consistent efforts to criminalize abortion AND contraception, the increased instances of domestic terrorism backed by the Tea Party (remember that little show down in Nevada?) should have been enough for even someone in an alcoholic haze to note that something "wasn't quite right" with the GOP. I won't even enter into the constant cries to turn our country into a Theocracy and the rewriting of history to support their beliefs. f Boehner was too unaware to see what was happening around him, then his aides should have noticed and brought it to his attention.Additionally, why on God's green Earth has the GOP allowed the Tea Party to become its subsidiary and mouthpiece, rather than insisting they create their own 3rd party, when they could have? Because they LIKED the insanity...and the votes. If John Boehner was "surprised" by the vehemence of the "fringe" of the so called "GOP" then he is an even bigger fool than we all give him credit for.

It is all about access. Don't forget that Boehner was caught passing out checks from the tobacco industry on the floor of the House. this was before he was Speaker. He was the most sleazy blatant son of a bitch about the money. Read the article in the NY Times at that point. Also don't forget there is hardly anyone in Congress who is not bought and paid for. Boehner would simply be a delivery man for money.

I'm afraid I couldn't agree with you more, but the real danger is that he may have damaged himself to a point where, in a three way race, the speakership could go to an even bigger douche. McCarthy is a moron who craves power and acceptance and will do dangerous things to achieve his goals. His competitors are true-believers who actually want to crash the government. They are seriously dangerous.

While I agree with your assessment of McCarthy, I must, however, correct you on one small point. His native language is Twitish and he is actually quite fluent.

McCarthy (R-Embarrassing Part of CA) is so bad that even California hates him. What with Pelosi being D-Frisco, you'd think that a state having both sides of the House leadership sewed up could expect great federal projects to come its way, you know, transportation and water project.

No sirree. McCarthy doesn't like us Californians. He thinks he lives in a backwater state. He opposes our clean water regulations, our clean air regulations, our embrace of Obamacare, our non-hostile position on immigrants, our efforts to mitigate climate change, our incredibly effective response to the drought, and obviously he doesn't get along with any Democrats in state government (note: Dems hold every state office, yes, all of them). So it's a problem.

And to top it off, the teabaggers don't think he's conservative enough. Oh, and all he has done to rise to his level so quick is he fundraises and schmoozes, trying to be everyone's bestie.

You can see how this trainwreck is going to happen.

"... Pelosi being D-Frisco ..."

Ahem:

Whoever after due and proper warning shall be heard to utter the abominable word "Frisco," which has no linguistic or other warrant, shall be deemed guilty of a High Misdemeanor, and shall pay into the Imperial Treasury as penalty the sum of twenty-five dollars.

Other than that, we're in agreement.

We Southern Californians can call SF anything we want, even Paris by the Sea.

'Frisco" originated in the 1800s, by sailors who used SF's port. It's not derogatory. Just like SoCal is not derogatory. Newspapers used the term back then.

March 9, 1850, issue of the Placer Times in Sacramento:

“A correspondent in a ’Frisco paper, writing from this city, says he saw ‘a female pedestrian galloping through our streets.’ Hope she had a good time.”
