Sounded like a negative stereotype to me. I might be a little overly sensitive given the amount of negative and false stereotypes directed towards academics in US politics, media, and the general population. I'm not sure what that Dominic's comment was supposed to accomplish. Who was it directed at? I've been coming to Wonkette for a little over a year now and really enjoy the post and comments, especially the fact that most commenters seem very knowledgeable and fun.
I love Tuesday/Thursday classes. However, I sometimes have to teach Fridays with a MWF class. This is not uncommon at many universities in the US. In any case, I still have both teaching and research work to do on Fridays (and most evenings and weekends).
OT: Saturday work has been cut to 6 hours which gives me 2 and a half more hours to move in. The goal is to eat and sleep in my new place with the cats by Sunday night.*edit* and I have insurance now, so I am as ready as I'll ever be
I am sorry, but these are the latest, most scientifically accurate calculations in the history of mankind. The combination of of the phrase, "playing some numbers" and the use of units that no one actually uses clearly indicates that these are carefully thought out calculations, done with absolute precision. Not to mention that final designation as "fluffy," which is the choice of healthcare professionals the world over.Actually the only thing I did correctly in the whole thing was using correct number of significant digits, which I did without thinking. Sometimes you just play with numbers to make a point, not to be precise in your calculations.
