Wonkette Bonus Chat: Why We Shouldn't Surrender Florida To Ron DeSantis
With special guest Kaitlin Byrd from Dame Magazine!
Tom Nichols at The Atlanticargued that "Florida has a right to destroy its universities." However, this line of thinking greatly misrepresents who's given power to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. It also ignores who suffers the most from his authoritarian rule.

Dame Magazine columnist Kaitlin Byrd (@gothamgirlblue on social media) joins me today to challenge Nichols's argument with some appropriate historical context (i.e. America tried Jim Crow once. It was bad).
Our pre-recorded Black History Month chat begins at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET.

After the 2020 erection cycle, FL made it much harder for people to request and get mail in ballots. This especially applies to deployed military/families who now have to request a ballot for every erection. Now a request and ballot have to go potentially half way round the world 2x. In 2020 DeJoys "post office" took more than a day to expedite ballots 50 miles, so how long could it take for a ballot from the "USS Eisenhower" deployed in the middle of the Indian Ocean to get to FL.When it was pointed out to DEATHsantis that military people could be disenfranchised because of the new requirements for mail in voting, he outright said that the military was the only group of people he didn't want to disenfranchise.
Lovely discussion. Ta, Stephen.
