This makes the second Korean movie I've seen, and the fourth production (Parasite, Kim's Convenience and, best of all, Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Yes, I MEANT WOO, not "Woodvine", motherfucking autofill. Parasite lived up to its rave reviews, Kim's Convenience wore out it's welcome with repetitive story lines (one member or another of the family is trying to escape the consequences from some bit of deception- a lie, false pretence, an exaggeration).
And... the end. Funny, I've been rewatching A Touch of Frost, about a senior police detective who seems to specialize in talking the armed and dangerous out of shooting him . Picture him being called out to respond to that little spot of bother in Picadilly Circus and a trying his avuncular, calm "Now, now son, you don't really want to hurt anyone" speech that usually gets the agitated villain to give himself up.
Jesu! Supposedly this movie is available on Prime, but what they don't tell you is they redirect you to Pluto (commercials) or AMC (sign up for a one week free trial if you aren't already a subscriber). I HATE THAT. So, try Pluto; but it insists on Spanish only, including closed captioning. Tried and tried to change the settings, but it won't fucking let me. So back to Prime and AMC, and hope to remember to cancel within the week, because I CANNOT afford another damn subscription.
Okay, Jenny Aguter I recognize, and Dr. Hirsh is a very familiar faces, but from where? He usually plays a heavy, and a very cold one at that.
I missed the movie last night but want to share that Jenny Agutter was at our wedding party (at the time she was dating my husband’s former college roommate who was kind of a big wig in Hollywood at the time).
Shoot, I meant to catch the movie this week, but mom had to watch the Michigan / Michigan State game so I watched with her (satisfying 49-0 stomping with many of the lesser players getting a chance to shine).
Opinion | I’m a free speech absolutist who believes free speech should never be infringed. But should pro-Palestine protests be allowed on campus? It’s complicated.
Good morning Wonks. I'm feeling kind of blue this AM. Maybe it's because all the trees I see out my window are completely denuded. Their beautiful orange and red leaves have fallen, leaving the trees dark grey silhouettes against the overcast sky. Snow is forecast for later this week, although I doubt it will last longer than a day or two. In good news, our newly elected provincial government is NDP (Labour is the best analogy) and the new premier is Wab Kinew, Canada's first elected indigenous political leader. It's only taken about four centuries, but still.
A moment of solitude in the rain in Manhattan on 5th Ave. Photographed on Friday, it’s sunny here now. (it looks better if you click on it to enlarge, Substack crops it in the preview)
Sorry you had a bad weekend but happy you are here now!
I am having fun writing the new movie posts. Once I get the hook that will be the heart of it, usually by Wednesday, it all just flows really easy. Then I do some research, find some links and reread it a million times and tweak it, then have a friend proofread. Finally I put it all together and schedule it by Friday night. I have some big ideas for movie nights beyond Wonkette. I am grabbing this opportunity with both hands.
You have been there from the beginning, you were the seed for WMN, thank you my most awesome quirky sidekick and nun with a ruler that she is not afraid to use!

So it appears Jenny Agutter hasn't always played a nun . Very much so.
"There's a bathroom on the right"
Ah, John Woodvine...he was Ralph Nickleby in Nicholas Nickelby, and a right bastard in that.

I am taking the batteries out of the electronic bathroom scale. It keeps telling things I do not want to know.
Skepti, are you dropping weight again?
Yes. I only weigh ninety freakin' pounds.
This is ridiculous.
Have someone flip the switch to Kg without telling you.

I'm actually waiting for Monday, because it is inevitable that Chump will do something stupid and get in trouble again.
He's already violated his gag order.
I'm waiting for a courtroom meltdown.
I look forward to a whole episode of Court Cam on it.

I hate how substack clips pictures.
nice. for some reason that reminds me of new york in the 1960s, which makes me quite moody.
Then I did a good job. Thank you. Sorry about the moody.
Moody is good.
Nice!
These are nice photos, zig!...
You are truly an artist, ZW. You capture so MUCH in just one still.
Yes!
Thank you Skepti, you don't know how much I appreciate your support of my photography as art.
As I've noted before Annie Leibovitz has some serious competition.
I agree.
Award Winning
That is all.
Thanks Chicken! How are you doing my friend?
