Thanks everyone! Next week, in a similar vein as The Secret Of Kells is another beautiful and unusual animated flick 𝐊𝐮𝐛𝐨 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. https://open.substack.com/pub/ziggywiggy/p/wonkette-movie-night-kubo-and-the?r=2knfuc&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Thanks for the reminder. There are some crows waiting outside, so I need to feed them to stay on their good side. It was a pair last year, but they had children this spring and now it's a family of five.

Ironically, it reduces the number of crows since they aggressively chase away other ones.

The worst moment was Rod Tayler covering Pleshette's pecked out eye holes with his hand.

The shot was just a suggestion, you never saw anything but it was still scary. A book about Hitchcock claims he was obsessed with blondes, especially Tippi, to an uncomfortable degree.

Getting back to the movie, I saw an interview with someone who had been a kid in the film, and she talked about how fascinated she was with the nuts and bolts of filmmaking and how Hitchcock kind of took her under his, er, wing. He told her that he only needed a few of the birds on the playground equipment to be live, the rest were unmoving, and the audience would just believe they were all live.

It works but I always wondered about that... how did he know that would work?

The Press has always been Trump’s publicist.

In 2016 Trump has no experience in government. None. Nada. Zip. Zero Zilch.

So how did the press bill him?: He’s a Washington outsider! He’s not like those corrupt bureaucrats that came before him who couldn’t solve anything. He’s anti-establishment! Let’s give him a chance.

Flash forward to today. How are they billing Kamala Harris?: She’s an unknown. She’s inexperienced. She hasn’t been tested. Voters don’t know anything about her so they are less likely to take a chance on her.

The press is "neutral". The meaning of "neutral" to them is to not report in a way that destroys Trump, even if the truth would actually do that. They will legitimize Trump no matter how fucking ridiculous he is because to actually expose him would not be "neutral". This is exactly what happened in Italy and Germany and the press continued to protect fascists even as the fascists were literally putting them in body bags.

Behind the Bastards did a series on it.

Mara Gay, of NYT editorial board, on Thursday's Morning Joe, talked about the ridiculousness of thinking of PAB as a normal candidate and practicing bothsiderism. I wanted to jump through the screen, shake her by the shoulders, and scream, "You could change that on the editorial board!" I'll keep other comments to myself.

Yet we know all about Trump now. There is nothing that suggests he should be anywhere near the White House. Harris was a prosecutor, the San Francisco DA, California attorney general, a senator, and vice president. I think everyone knows her ideology and her capabilities. That's like comparing the captain of the Titanic with Sullenberger, who deftly landed a passenger jet in the Hudson River after birds caused a flame out. Which one would you pick for your next trip?

It turns out that Trump might actually think there has been widespread cannibalism as a result of current immigration law, and that's why he keeps referencing Hannibal Lector, and that Elon Musk might also think this is plausible.

Yes, the objective and those of negative subjectivity will notice that decline, but his followers, those subjectively positive, will excuse and ignore it. “Yeah Sis, Mom is a little forgetful, but I don’t want to believe it’s Alzheimer’s and if we take her car, it’ll kill her.” The next day, Mom drives her Caddy through a bus stop.

All the Starlings at the top of the dead ash at the back of our yard were practicing looking in the same direction this morning - first North, then South. Not all of them have their shit together. I think they migrate somewhere. Then most flew off, leaving a few who missed the boat, looking around in all directions. I'm sure it was the MAGA crowd of Starlings. They like to hang around Blackbirds, who like to hang around Crows, emulating their larger personages...

Went out with friends yesterday to watch the Cal game at our local haunt, had a wonderful time. Not because I like college football, but everyone was just so damn happy. My friend CJ played Shake A Tail Feather and the place ERUPTED. A whole mess of middle-aged folks just *getting down* lol. The door opened and a youngin' Amazon delivery driver came in and was like "Whoa." CJ kept trying to get him to dance, but he was like, no thanks. That is, until he was walking out the door and shook his ass, smiling the whole way. It was so cute. Imma miss my SC homies.
