I got it, in that conversation, that someday MY music would be for oldsters, and I wouldn't understand the music of that future era.
THen in college, our professor shared the above Socrates quote with us. All it's missing is "kids these day! with their music!"

I am convinced it's getting worse. While this country has always been stupid, there has been a precipitous drop in markers for "intelligence" that aligns in the upswing of the "smart" phone and social media.
I witnessed it teaching at university and colleges between 2000 and 2023. This is not the same as "the same complaints." This is different in both speed, magnitude and harm to this fucking country.
I've heard this all before. I've also read the same complaints about 'kids these days' going back millennia. Which I know I've said to you before, so there's no point in continuing this conversation.
And yes, "kids these days" are exactly as they are for millennia. The tech doesn't make a difference, right?
