In all that time, the local democrats couldn't win or even run a viable candidate. They suck.
The problem is Wall Street. They want a New Yorker in charge of the senate banking committee. That's Schumer's real job - keeping Wall Street happy.
Ideally, he'd just step down from party leadership & retain his the chair of the banking committee. He won't though - he's an arrogant prick with delusions of greatness & irreplaceability.
