"They’re morons." - all those future years of advancements in psychology and the social sciences, and the USA hasn't found anything to contradict today's leading hypothesis...
So for the last few weeks I've been brothered by the geography of this story. Lorinda and Stimpy would have had to drive across three other states to get to Georgia but IIRC there was no mention of ever leaving Texas. Minor quibble I know but it bugged me enough to get out my phone and look it up.
Maybe they did cross state lines, but all the signs saying things like "ENTERING MISSISSIPPI" had been destroyed by vandals, or stolen by the CCSA equivalent of fraternities, and there was no money to replace them?
Love this! Sinclair Lewis, from the afterlife is shouting “it can Hapoen Here!” (Eat Your Serial ran early political Paradise Gardens set in USA in 2055.)
It was inevitable that Lorinda and Stewart would fall in love. Caring for another human being is a major motivator toward doing what's right and beneficial to everyone else.
That's what I said last week. I suspect Lorinda would have to lay low -- at least in respect to the CCSA -- for a year or so before she could risk going back in there. Plus, she'd need training during that time. Maybe she could become "the guy in the chair."
Seems like it would be far too dangerous to have her actually go back in... not only for her own safety, but if she's going to be the star of the USA's media blitz, they won't want to risk having her captured, which would be handing a big win to CCSA.
Which is why I suggested the "guy in the chair" role for her. And yeah -- her name and her face is going to be *everywhere* for a while, and depending on how long "a while" is, it could be a long, long time before she can risk going back into the CCSA. (I don't know how much media "leaks" across the border, but I imagine the CCSA PTB are going to be suppressing her story as much as possible, and just keeping her on file as a wanted felon.)
Ta, Steve and Ellis. I'm loving this!

Alabama gets a fair amount of attention in the story.

Blowing up an overpass might also allow people to escape down to The Corridor......

Get Stewart out too!
But he has his mission. I'm wondering if maybe Lorinda will join him in the underground to help get others out.
